Fantastic visit. Our two grandchildren aged 3 and 7, were fascinated with all the interactive displays. The museum volunteers were so knowledgeable. Everything is presented in a child friendly way. Lots to see and do. The play area was water logged and not very inspiring.

The cafe was packed with people eating. The volunteers were so helpful and well organised. This visit is a must if you live near Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes Museum, McConnell Drive, Wolverton, MK12 5EL. Tel: 01908 316222. A comprehensive rural/agricultural museum with many other displays of items from bygone eras (communications, food marketing, old high street shops, transport etc) plus the history of African/Caribbean culture in the UK in a separate dedicated building hosted by a brilliant MC. There's something for all the family here! It really is a great museum. Based on what used to be a working farm and the original farmhouse forms part of the display. Very much hands on which is refreshing! Well informed and friendly guides will demonstrate and explain all sorts of items and equipment from the past and, in most cases, it is OK to touch and use.

We loved this Museum. Steam trains, trams, concrete cows, playing pianolas, making toast in front of the range, buying sweets by the qtr in the old fashioned post office at a very reasonable £1. They have both hard and soft sweets. This place brings exhibits to life for the young ones and the kids at heart. My daughter loved being the telephone operator on a working switchboard. The mostly volunteer staff are lovely and obviously passionate about what they do. Don't miss the tea rooms, there are more exhibits in there including a printers shop and the home made cakes are divine. If you're in the Milton Keynes area this place is definitely worth 3 hours of your time and you would need 3 hours to do it justice. I initially baulked at the £40 for a family but afterwards I thought it was excellent value for money. With tickets valid for a year, if you are local and have primary school aged children this is somewhere you'd want to return to often.

Plenty to see and do for kids and kids at heart! We were there a little before opening, so we looked around in the front grassy area, where there was some interesting stuff to see, including a boat! My kids (age 9 and almost 3) and husband and I had a lovely time doing that. Then the doors opened at precisely 10:30 and wow did the adventure begin!

We were there literally from that moment until almost closing time, and still didn't see everything - the kids loved the hands-on aspect of lots of the exhibits, the play area, the toy room, and my husband and I just loved all of it. The cafe treats are out of this world, be sure to get you a nice cake. (Takes cash and card.)

The staff were friendly and kind - except for some reason the young lady who was working in the "Post Office" exhibit, I'm not sure what was going on there but she seemed kind of terse. (Maybe she was having a bad day?) Our 9-year-old didn't seem to notice, though, so maybe it was just my husband who noticed. (They have sweets for sale in that exhibit for cash-only, and only hard sweets that I could see, so just be aware if you do have a baby or young toddler, there's no soft sweets in there that I'm aware of, before you commit to buy something.)

Everything else was EXCELLENT, with all of the volunteer staff just going above and beyond everything to invite the children to explore, play, and discover all of the fun things they have. The telephone room as a huge hit with all of us.

The Magician was a wonderful treat! We even got to make our own toast at an old-fashioned fire stove, and have a snack as we went through! The leather-work exhibit was fantastic, and the man there gave our 9-year-old a thorough lesson on how to make boot laces and belt decorations! She LOVED it.

The exit gate brings you back around into the place you started, where the gift shop is, and the gifts there are very reasonably-priced, with lots of little toys for children and toddlers and babies, and also for kids or grown-ups, wonderful hand-made bags, etc for sale again at a very good price!

We look forward to visiting again, to hear the old-fashioned music children are invited to play themselves, with supervision, on a special piano, and ring the bells, what a fantastic place to learn about the past through play - the best way to learn - and my son maybe can learn to do the leatherwork, since he really wanted to but at almost 3 he is just not old enough just yet!

We highly recommend coming here. Don't be tricked by the modest front upon arrival - it is like a magical rabbit-hole once you get in there, and the further you go, the better it gets!

Absolutely Brill. Popped over as it is local to us. We spend a good few hours wandering though the museum. Weather wasn't that great, but there was loads to do.
Volunteers were very knowledgeable.
My only criticism is that there was no info on the Bloomer, I only know it was that as my Hubby helped to build it as an apprentice in the 90's. Would like to see that improved as it is a part of the Wolverton history.

Staff were very knowledgeable and happy to help. Lots of interaction with the exhibits and extremely interesting.

I finally got to see the infamous concrete cows of Milton Keynes 😂

Also, the F1 car 😍
