Andrea Joseph's hand-lettering course left me wishing I'd done it 43 years ago when I first got felt tips. I felt as happy in the class now as I was when I was kid delighting in the chance to play with pens. Andrea took us, step by step, though how to build styles of writing that are at the heart of her creative sketch books. We were offered a selection of pens to try and given a sketch book to get started in. The sessions were really relaxed. Andrea demonstrated techniques and we got the chance to give them a go ourselves.
Over the two sessions I learned techniques I'm using immediately. My 13 year old God daughter loved it when we sat together and wrote using Andrea's techniques. I have a new-found love of bingo marker pens and their creative possibilities, and I'll never look at a highlighter in the same way either (you can do much more with them than highlight text!).
The teaching space is big and well lit and warm. The views over the Torrs riverside park are beautiful. There's a little kitchen for hot drinks.
My only wish is that the class was longer so I could learn more. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The price for the two sessions and the content were great value for money to me.
