モーマットに会えるかも

湖までハイキングをしました。初級コースのようですが人生初のハイキングの娘たちには少しきつかったようです。普通の運動靴で登ったし。でも、湖の手前でマーモットに出会えて喜んでいました。途中で見れる氷河もおすすめです。山々に囲まれたトレイルで雲ノ平に登ったのを思い出しました。8月の下旬に行きましたが、花のシーズンが終わりかけていたので、もう少し早い時期にまた訪れたいです。

Helen Lake Trail - A Fairly Leisurely Hike
2021年7月
Easy trail to Helen Lake, so continued on up and over the ridge to Lake Katherine. Often lost the trail once we were over the ridge. Total distance was 11.5 miles, took 6 hours including lunch break and stops for photos, 2700 feet elevation gain and loss. No problem getting a parking spot and that was getting to the lot late (about 8 am).

Please be prepared with bear spray and bells. We heard a bear on the beginning of our hike and luckily were close by to other groups who also wore bells and visible spray. Better to be over-prepared than risk it! There have been sightings over the last few weeks as per All Trails as well.

Not a path for simply running shoes but we did see it.

Blizzard at the top of Cirque peak (beyond Helen lake). You should definitely continue on to get a beautiful view of Helen Lake.

The best hike we have ever made

We went with a guide, Ross from the Chateau Lake Louise, who enhanced the hike with info, being fun and flexible. The hike doesn’t require a guide, but he certainly made it better. My wife is a strong hiker and Ross took her beyond the lake. On the other hand, 6 km to the lake was my limit. Fortunately, I brought my fly rod and caught 4 brook trout while my wife and Ross continued the hike and then returned to the lake. We were there at the end of July and the wildflowers were blooming all over the meadow leading to the lake. The walk through the meadow with the colorful flowers and 360 degree vistas of different types of peaks was amazing. There were several beautiful vistas overlooking Bow Lake at the bottom of the trail. We took this hike on our first full day of the trip and never stopped talking about it.

Away From the Crowds

A great hike that gets you up above the tree line relatively quickly. The secenery is spectacular and there are amazing wild flowers between 2000 and 2300 meters. Still lots of snow up at the Lake in late June but what a great lunch spot. If you are really ambitious, in good shape and have good boots, you can scramble up to the summit of Cirque Peak in July, August and September after the snow is gone.

クロウフットグレーシャーをバックにトレイルを登ります。初心者向けのトレイルで、森林の中を気持ちよく歩きます。ただ馬もこのトレイルを使うため、かなりの馬糞街道ではあります（苦笑）。上手に避けて歩く必要があります。森林から視界が開けたらそこは緑の天国。ヘレンレイク自体は小さな小さな湖ですが、風がとても気持ちよくていつまでもそこに留まりたい気持ちになりました。

Beautiful hike!

Definitely a beautiful hike. It's an easy grade and the alpine meadow is incredible. It's best to hike with others on this trail. Grizzly bear sightings are common and the trail has been closed in the past due to bear activity.

Favorite hike everchanging

Everytime i hike this trail it is different. Yet it remains the same. Though not an easy hike and not for the faint of heart it stuns me with its opening beauty every time. I feel such gratitude to be able to bask in the beauty of lovely glacial lakes nestled in beckoning vallys pop up streams in the heathers above the boreal line and whistling marmots. Whats not to enjoy when the grizzlies are away...so pack your bear spray.

12km afternoon hike

Wonderful introduction to the Canadian outdoors. We experienced all types of landscapes including forests, waterfalls, alpine meadows, lakes and amazing 360 views of the mountains, an exhilarating experience.

Heed the warnings- groups of 4, minimum!

The pics look beautiful and we were very much looking forward to this hike. We were the first ones in the lot on the day we visited (0745). I had a gnawing feeling from the beginning of this one. I kept asking my boyfriend to make noise. He obliged, repeatedly quoting Ronny Mund from the Howard Stern show to alert the animals there of our presence as to avoid any surprise encounters. 25 minutes into our hike we rounded a bend and sure enough- a black bear was 40 yds ahead of us (just off the trail) helping it's cub up into a tree! Yikes! We made a slow (at first) and steady retreat back to our car and decided to visit a more tourist-populated area that day.

Go in groups of 4, at least! And carry bear spray!
