An excellent day trip! Compact but contains some really nicely presented exhibits and fascinating memorabilia. Membership would be advantageous if this is offered as there is a wealth of material to learn about. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We particularly warmed to the museum guide who was in the Cold War exhibit, a very knowledgeable and informative guy. This is a reasonably priced day outing. We walked 4 miles from Downtown to take in the surrounding areas of Calgary. The cab fare back was around $23.

I had a couple of free days in Calgary before my trip to Glacier and Banff started so I came here on one of them. A nice little museum which follows the history of the Canadian Armed forces during multiple conflicts from the beginning to the present. Smaller exhibits on the Navy and Air Force as they came into being later.
Lots of nice exhibits, outside and in the hanger, they have lots of cool military vehicles to check out. Worth a trip.

This is not the biggest military museum but there is still a lot to look at and it is all well displayed. Showing so many periods of war throughout our history. Very informative. They have acquired an enigma machine. Really cool. A special display to see is the ,"Great Escape." It is an interactive display.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about Canada's military history. The displays are marvelous and detailed.

More extensive than I thought! I was surprised by how many exhibits there were and how large it was. We’re so lucky to have this museum in our city, it was so informative and interesting! The actual exhibitions are slightly dated and could do with an upgrade but they’re still cool!

Our experience was wonderful! We expected that The Fall of 44' located in the main entrance was the only one with realistic wax figures, but almost every single exhibition had them. We did not think that the museum would be interactive, yet it did! We spent 5 hours there and still missed so many exhibitions! Totally recommended. Don't rush it, it has tons of information, artifacts, audio visual displays, you name it! Indoors and outdoors. It has a cafeteria to take a break. Absolutely fascinating! Our favorite parts were the D-Day movie shows at the Doc Seaman mini theater and a real Enigma-K machine!

This was a very good museum with areas for each of the units that served. It had areas for Air Force and naval assets. A Cold War area. There were armored vehicles from WW 2 to present. It was a really good display with some life sized dioramas.

We have been to a lot of military museums all over. This, by far, was the absolute best. It was well organized and full of interesting artifacts. Some of the exhibits had volunteers who offered tours of their area. Thanks to light attendance, we had private tours (thank you Barry and Donald!) Plan for at least four hours.

Extremely well done exhibits, very detialed, take an afternoon and go. Full size aircraft, and armoured vehicles. Very nice staff. Highly recommended

It's been twenty years since I last toured the galleries. The addition of the Naval Museum makes this a great afternoon out.
Although I have never been to the War Museum in Ottawa which honours Canada's extensive military past, but from what i see here at the museum today , it makes me feel like if its almost as good on smaller scale . Very educational indeed.

Sorry for the delay! There are tables with benches on our outdoor patio just beside the Naval Museum of Alberta. The easiest way to get there is by coming through the main entrance, walk down the hall towards the Naval Museum of Alberta, and you'll see it on your right, directly across the snack room.
