Historic white clapboard building housing the quintessential simple coastal library. When we visited, they were having a book sale and even giving some away. Wonderful place and well worth a visit.

We love this little library and stop here whenever we are in the area. The staff is super helpful and friendly. There are books to borrow and books to buy on the top floor. They also have a butterfly collection and several collections of old books on display. So many great finds! And on top of all that, at we learned hat the library has some exchange programs so we were able to score discounted entry to a Portland museum for later in the week!

We have been visiting the Southport Library for 30 years. We tune into their convenient wifi. We borrow books and DVDs. We chat with their friendly staff. We go to their evening events. We even give them a donation to help things along. If you want to have a sense of the local community, just sit in a comfy chair, read, and listen to the gossip. You will be welcome and feel welcome. Good local libraries are like that. This is one.

What a great place to stop in for some local culture! We originally stopped in to see the butterfly & moth collection on display, which was donated by a patron some years ago and has been kept in pristine condition. But we were quickly charmed by the friendly staff at the library, by the history behind the building and the supportive connection they have to their community. It was an unexpected (and welcome) treat to spend some time there on a rainy day!

Four of us stopped by this outstanding little library at the southern end of Southport Island and are so glad we did. They had a wonderful art exhibit accompanied by many quotes from Rachel Carson's books. Their collection of her books and books about her was very impressive. This is especially appropriate because she wrote Silent Spring while staying on Southport Island!.

First to greet you is a magnificent garden overflowing with beautiful flowers and charm. This simply charming library was once a one room school house. Local artisan’s lovely paintings and quilts adorn the walls. It’s home to a large butterfly collection and of course reading and video materials. Books are offered for sale on the second floor.

Attended their used book sale (wonderful selection of lightly used books at very reasonable prices) and bake sale (yummy home made goodies). The library is impressive in terms of their book collection and facilities.
