There is a good chance for both. They can be seen from the beach but if you only have 6 days better to check one of the tours in tofino. There are several companies and they all seem to have success. Check their reviews

No there is not. There is a paved path for pedestrians and cyclists that goes from downtown Tofino to Jamie's Rainforest Inn, after that it is just Pacific Rim Highway, It is single lane both ways and the speed limit is posted at 80 km/h. If you are a confident cyclist the highway will be fine, if you are not - I would not recommend it, it will not be a relaxing memorable experience

There are many beautiful trail the one we should suggest is the trails near ulchelet , they are the pacific trail system . People co e from all over the world to storm watch or get some r and r. They do have a visitors info place where you could get lots of info you are requiring and how easy hikes to hard hikes are . They is accommodations there as well from camping to the besutiful inn which is quite pricey but worth it . We camped and stayed at the best western . On your way stop and revel in the d the Douglas old growth forest of trees a d the majestic mountains . Enjoy your stay

You can take a ferry from Vancouver to Victoria, then drive North out of Victoria and West across the island on Highway 4 to Tofino. It's a beautiful drive across the island, the latter 2/3rds of the drive are through amazing mountains and forests. You can stop about halfway at Cathedral Grove to see some amazing giant Douglas Fir trees, some of which are several hundreds of years old and hundreds of metres tall! That's what we did on our trip recently and I thoroughly recommend it!

I have hiked most of the trails in the Pacific Rim park at least once. If you only have a day to hike the ones you mentioned will more than fill the day if you spend any time looking around. If you have more than one day I would suggest you go to the Wild Pacific trail, Ucluelet BC. they have several trails but at this time they are not all connected but with a brief walk through the town you can make it an interlocking trail. we also like the Willowbrae Trail in Pacific Rim National Park. Either at the Amphitrite lighthouse or at the south end of that part of the trail (Lighthouse loop) that goes alongside the sea (where the sea is called "cemetary of the ocean" (because of all the ship wrecks)).

I would say a day trip is too short. You will not have enough time to see most of the beautiful places there. December is rainy in this area. You can stay in Ucluelet or Tofino. I love all seasons there but if you don't like rainy weather you can consider your visit in winter time.
