Had a terrible experience dealing with Kim from McCleery Proshop. She is very rude and aggressive. Will never go back.

Beautiful golf course but way too many brazen coyotes. Someone is going to get bit on this course. It is obvious there are dens on the course and the coyotes are not afraid of people. Thought people may have learned from Stanley Park that this is not a fair situation to feed coyotes. Obviously not.

The course in fairly good shape over the winter. Maybe an extended pond if heavier rain so occasionally drainage issues on a couple of holes. Enjoyable course to play. They are in the midst of adding a new set of forward tees. Sufficient access to toilets on the course. You might see a marshall once. Separate driving range area which can get busy too. Surprise hail storm with wind the other day and saw a beaver!

We came for a quick 9 before the rain. We booked on line and the Pro was very helpful. We scooted along to get ahead of the rain. Beautiful landscaping esp for a municipal course! nice holes and very nice club house and pro shop.

nice course. practice area, driving range mats only. Front 9 fairly easy, back 9 really tough.. long holes, hills to hit up to, need long drives to reach fairway. played on a day after 2 days of rain, rough impossible. greens fairly slow due to rain.

Golf course should be in better shape for the middle of august, Greens were sandy, fairways were very bumpy. And the mosquitos were absolutely horrible, even with bug spray I had some pretty chewed up legs. Killed the vibe seeing guys wearing tank tops on the course too.

The best, overall, of the public courses. Well maintained and challenging. Beautiful views, a joy to play. Sometimes crowded and occasionally with people who don’t know how to MOVE, also certain people hit off the blues when they shouldn’t, they should be hitting from the whites or even the reds. The Clubhouse staff and food have improved recently, it’s actually enjoyable to have a meal and sit outside and watch the ninth and eighteenth approach and greens.

I've lived in Vancouver for almost 30 years and only recently started playing McCleery more often. The city has been maintaining it better and making improvements so it's in good condition, better than formerly. It was always a challenging layout with long and difficult par 3s, a good mix of par 4s (you'll need most of the shots in your bag) and good but reachable par 5s, most holes either reasonably narrow or with landing zones that force you to think where to put your tee shots. It's a par 71 so not as short as 6,381 yards indicates (essentially at sea level), very walkable. Good range and teachers. Lots of parking. Some elevation change but mostly level. Greens are in great shape, not tricked up but good bend in lots of putts; some pin positions can be pretty challenging but overall fair. The shop and lounge are small but adequate, nice patio. It's a very pretty course situated in an attractive location (not house lined fairways). Plenty of wildlife such as coyotes, herons, etc.; sometimes beavers. Value for cost is high. Pace of play is generally good, marshals do police it. The one star reviews are unfair/out-of-date.

I have played McCleery for years and have always found it to be a challenging course. I played it again just 3 days ago and enjoyed the day immensely. The course and greens were beautifully groomed in preparation for the Vancouver Open and the weather was gorgeous. Maybe it is my advancing age, but I find this course to be more difficult than the other Vancouver courses and will probably start using a power cart in future. The staff are great and welcoming people. Our foursome finished in just over 4 hours so we kept up the pace in spite of the increasing heat during the day.

We played at this course many many times but just realized this morning they have a really good marshal named Ken. We were there this morning at around 6:15 am. There were quiet and the temperature is quite cool. We didn't think of to bring mosquito spray because it would be Sunny and hot out there after the Sun came out but we were wrong. I played with both my brother and sister for a three-sum. Ken was very nice checking on us for timing of playing each hold at the first place. When he saw us eaten alive by the mosquito, especially my sister who wore a short skirt, got bite a million times. We are about to quit the game because we didn't want to see our sister got bite by mosquito and we couldn't concentrated to play when we are annoyed by those millions of mosquitoes flying around us. At the very critical moment around hold no. 6, Ken drove by to our spot and offer said there are only 2 small bottles of mosquito repellent left in the office if we need he can helped us to bring one from the office. He drove back and forth, finally brought the repellent to us in 15 minutes. We stopped getting mosquito bites after spraying a lot on our bodies. He truly save our lives. I haven't seen any marshals anywhere who are with this kind of hospitality to offer such a helpful action. And BTW, this course is in very good condition and very easy to play. We enjoy it very much and will keep playing there every year when we are back to visit our family in Vancouver.
