As experienced adventures, travelers we enjoyed aspects of the Forks National Historic Site, the riverbank walkways, the tree lined river banks and the National Park elements of this Historic area are really excellent. The whole area should definitly be turned into a National Park status and with proper Federal government oversight. We however did not enjoy the Forks Market, the fact that Management of this building in essence has turned the whole building into a drinking, alcohol zone (the whole building) full of drunks, nasty bullying, poor shopping opportunities and sadly violence is common at the Commons Food Court and throughout the building and surroundings. Such visuals really degrades the quality of the National Park and river walkway experiences of this wonderful Heritage and Historic government Property in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are not pleased with the Management of the Forks Market Building and this Commons area of way to mush booze and violence. Most disappointing what Forks Market administrators and those responsible have done to this particular area. As such, Not Recommended in its present state of degeneration.

This is s nice park, and a monument,but not much else. The market is more interesting, particularly the antique shop in the basement.

Whole thing was great. Lots to see with easy walking. Great food and shops in the market. The 1/2 hour boat tour is a must! Was an easy walk to the Museum of Human Rights.

Cool place to go for a walk feed the geese. Nice place to just hang out and have a beer and food plenty of seating.

The Forks was by far my favourite place in Winnipeg. The history was incredible. I appreciate the information plaques erected to provide context to visitors of the land the current day Forks is situated on. Busy but totally manageable crowds in the space available. I loved it here.

I am a local Winnipeg resident and have been frequenting the forks since it first opened in 1989 and loved it then and still do . They have amazing restaurants inside and shops but love the outdoor trails and walkways . They have now opened up the river for ice skating . It is a very safe place and worth the visit

A great place to spend time with lots of places to eat and drink, riverside walks artwork and parkland. We were lucky on our visit that we were able to spend time relaxing in the sun. Loved it.

this place has really gone down hill due to all of the muggings and violence and until they fix that problem avoid this part of Winnipeg

We will be staying at the Fairmont on lombard. Should we walk to the Forks? Or drive? And if we drive. What is the cost for parking at the Forks? Also, any other costs for the Forks area such as the human rights (or other) Museums?

You can walk it or drive. There is a cost for parking at the Forks, although there are some parking spots that are free. We found one when we were there, but it was just lucky we got it. The museum will cost you, but it is worth it.
Also think about a pontoon ride on the river with a guide. We learned a lot about Winnipeg that we did not know. Forks is one of my favorite places. Check out the river walk.

I will be visiting the forks on Father's Day by boat and would like to know if there are specific docks for boat owners and are they marked or is there any specific signage. I don't want to park in a water taxi spot or be parked illegally.

I have noticed other boats at different times some with families,parked their for a couple of hours.I would check with travel Manitoba.

Hi, My husband and I are going to be in Winnipeg for Valentine's day weekend and are looking for some things to do. One of them is visiting the Canadian Mint. I've also read about The Forks. Do you know if there are skate rentals available. Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help. Denise

yes they have skate rentals lots of food vendors and some nice shopping in the area.skating is available on a man made surface pond and also on the Red River weather permitting. I highly recommend it.
