... et aussi éducatif. Bonne idée de jaser avec le personnel qui travaille avec les animaux ; ils ont des choses à expliquer.

I’m inclined to boo. We had tickets for 8:00 pm and after having our photo I’d and vaccination cards scanned, we were all allowed to enter. We spent almost 1 3/4 hours walking. For younger kids ( the youngest with us was 12), it would probably LTE be more exciting. It was extremely crowded for a Sunday evening and the line-ups were almost as bad as DisneyWorld at Christmas! Apart from the lights, skeletons and Halloween effects, there was a Ferris wheel, which nobody went on, a super slide which they waited ages for and the ride was 10 seconds, a merry-go-round for younger kids and a funhouse, again with ridiculous lines. The band we heard was really very good. Some of the animated giant bugs were good, but overall, it was disappointing for $12.75 a person. I do hope it does well and that they make it bigger and better next year. Parking was NUTS because it was free I suppose. The scariest thing was the person who scuttled out of the dark on all fours. We probably wouldn’t go back.

Seals swimming was highlight of polar bear exhibit and 2 bears lying down outside. Polar bear exhibit lots of hype but more bears before all the improvements.Toucan/bird and reptile exhibit was good. Sorry to say but animals were hard to see or not out. Saw kinds of monkeys. Nice staff and voluteers but they seemed to nearly out number the patrons. Looks like lots of entertainment for kids but were all closed on the Monday we attended. Lots of walking with large enclosure ,good for the animals. Perhaps covid restrictions to blame for low attendance but sparce animals to view was disappointing. 4 stars for child experience but 2 stars for zoo.

We went to the zoo and went to see the animals plus we saw the butterfly garden which we loved! We saw butterflies that are not from Canada. They were so beautiful! We also saw the dinosaur display with dinosaurs that make noise. It might be scary for little children.

All the animals are well cared for and look healthy. So much to see and do. Don’t miss out on seeing the polar bears, and enjoy going for a walk among the dinosaurs. Never a dull moment at the zoo!

This zoo is open everyday of the year. There was a bit of a line when we arrived over the long weekend and realized it would be faster to purchase tickets online. This was during COVID.
Pros: Beautiful zoo with many picnic tables towards the end for families to enjoy. Lots of bathrooms and garbage cans spread throughout. Staff are very engaging. Nice dinosaur exhibit at the end. This was quite possibly the best part of the zoo! Kids loved the rainbow play structures near the farm and could probably have spent all morning here. Polar bears and seals in the walk through tunnel of the aquarium is nice (similar to Toronto’s walk through aquarium without the moving sidewalk) although it can get crowded in this area of the animals are active. All staff are informative and very engaging.
Cons: many of the animals were hard to find when we visited in the morning. We are glad there were other exhibits.
You could easily spend a few hours here. We went in the morning so it wouldn’t be as hot. Many locals brought a picnic lunch and this is a great idea as they have plenty of sitting space towards the end. On the way out, there was still a line at the entrance so I highly recommend buying tickets online.

We finally found a way into the park by looking for the sculpture garden instead. Lovely spot for families or individuals. The sculpture garden and the English garden are definitely worth the trip. Lots of open spaces for walking. A great way to spend a few hours in Winnipeg.

Just had a frustrating non-customer relations experience at the zoo. We had bought discounted tickets in Feb, good for 3 months. I tried to use them on May 9, but the gate said closed due to COVID. I immediately called the zoo office and they said that they would extend the tickets but did not tell me a new expiry date. Tried to use today, but were told the tickets expired 2 weeks ago. No credit given for what we already paid. Would have to buy new tickets. Really?! Did our $32 for 2 tickets just disappear into thin air?
Was told we should have phoned regularly or checked the website regularly to find out the new date. They had my email address and my phone number but could not contact all the people affected by the COVID shutdown.
For “good” customer relations, they could have given me credit for the amount already paid and charged me the difference. A gift card doesn’t expire. If you pay for a specific service like a facial and the price goes up, they can charge you the difference, but they can’t just grab the payment and say “sorry - you should have called us to find out the new expiry date”. Where did the original $32 we spent go??
Very annoyed. No help from speaking to onsite manager or office. Asked to have this complaint escalated to a high level of management as this is unfair.

So I will be in Winnipeg in 2 weeks (mid Feb). The Journey to Churchill is indoors? I was told the zoo is open all year round, but will there be anything else to see if it's below 0 Celsius?

The "Journey to Churchill" is primarily outdoors. The only indoor aspect (to the best of my knowledge) is when you go underground to watch the animals swimming.
I have been vistiting the zoo for over 50 years and have found that they have changed the animal exhibits to reflect more of what really lives in our climate. The monkey exhibit (along with other more exotic animals) has been greatly reduced but there are now more animals on display in that are "Manitoba Survivors": the wolf, polar bear and bison enclosures are quite expansive and although these animals are living in a cage, at least it is a big cage. Many of the bigger cats are winter hardy and they are out there, too. Same goes with many deer species.
Yes, it is winter but there will be lots to see! Dress warm and hope for the best. Bring your skates and a toboggan (or Crazy Carpet) as there is a great recreational facility in the park that doesn't cost you anything - Unless you buy hot chocolate!

How long should one allot for time when touring the Zoo? We are (4 adults) traveling to Winnipeg and want to see as much of the city as we can in the day and 1/2 there.

We spent about 4 hours at the Zoo, but we lingered at a few exhibits. You can certainly cover it in 3, but we took our time. If you have a little extra time, you can continue over to the English Gardens in the park. The Garden is quite peaceful and beautiful and worth a visit.

Why do the bison look emaciated.

I wonder if you are confusing "emaciated" (thin, due to starvation) with "moulting" (winter fur being shed in summer). Really, you need to address your question to the zoo's administration!
are there wheelchairs available?

Is it a indoor zoo

The zoo is not an inside one although there is Toucsn Ridge which is a tropical house and the White Handed Gibbons are inside during the winter. Most other animals are hardy enough for our climate of down to -40 C. We regularly walk round the zoo and the last time, when it was -20C we saw the new baby White Handed Gibbon, what a cutie. At the moment it is so small and held close by its mother the keepers have not been able to note its sex.

Why are you hours so lousy? It would be nice to go during the week after work but you are closed! Summer is short and I go to the cabin on weekends and many others that I know. Since you have raised your prices, you would think you would want to be more accommodating.
