Wonderful spa, clean and organized. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Hammam 101 and relaxation massage were amazing!

Never disappointed!

Great Massage and Beautiful Steam Room/Showers

I visited Ten Spa for my first time on April 24th for a 50 minute massage to celebrate my birthday while staying in the hotel.

The spa is located on the tenth floor of the Fort Garry Hotel. I was welcomed by a friendly staff member when I walked in and provided with a basket for my shoes and socks and given a rope, towel, and sandals.

I arrived early to enjoy the steam room and showers before my massage and also stayed afterwards. The changing rooms were clean and pretty! You are assigned a locker to put all of your belongings. The steam room had heated tiled benches and was cozy and relaxing. If you press the button beneath the steam vessel, the lights on the roof turn on and hot steam mists down from the ceiling. The sign outside the steam room said that there would be an aroma in the room, but I didn’t smell anything. Beside the steam room was the experiential shower. There was only one but thankfully, I was the only person in the area at the time so I didn’t have any issues with that. You could press a button for a lovely tropical rain scented mist and then use the shower at the same time for a beautiful experience.

The regular showers inside the changing room were beautiful. They had pretty blue tiles and a glass cupboard inside the shower to hang your towel and robe. I loved the rain shower and there were shampoo and conditioner and shower gel inside to use. I enjoyed using the facial moisturizer and body lotion provided in the change room afterwards.

My massage was lovely! I was taken to one of the treatment rooms which looked very sterile and almost resembled a doctor’s office. I would have liked if it had a bit more of a cozy feel. My massage therapist was Lisa and she was great. She really worked a lot of knots out and used good pressure.

There is a small bar area in the lounge where you can buy wine, beer, mimosas, snack platters and salads. There is free herbal tea, water and small snacks (cookies, muffins and dried fruit). I had a great experience at Ten Spa and will definitely return again. Would really love to try the Hamam!

Custom Massage

Booked a 50 minute custom massage on June 5th. Appointment for 12 noon. At 12:10 was brought to room. Thought I had a nice massage. On completion was brought back to lounge area. Went to change room to get dressed, looked at the time and found it was 12:50. That was only a 40 minute massage. I mentioned this to the reception lady at checkout who just apologized and proceeded to charge the full $130 plus compulsory 15% tip plus tax.
She didn’t know what to say, so she gave me a card for 15% off next visit. On further looking at card it is only for their beauty products. Beware of your time on treatments! Turned out to be a very expensive 40 minute massage. Got ripped off!

The spa, facial and my aesthetician made my trip to Winnipeg a real treat. THANK YOU, Elmira. You are a gem. I have had many facial/beauty treatments in my life. This by far is the best. I would HIGHLY recommend checking out this treasure.

We are happy you enjoyed your experience at Ten Spa! In our regular steam rooms, located in our change rooms, we provide towels to wrap yourself in or you may bring your own swimwear. We do not have co-ed steamroom, however we do have a Hamam. The Hamam is our Turkish bath and it is a therapy room that is like a steam room. For our Hamam, we perform hot air bathing treatments and the attire in this area is that we provide guests spa sandals and a pestemal (traditional Turkish bamboo wrap) to wear during their time in that treatment room. Not Honoring Gift Cards - Fraudulently Used (possibly by staff?)

My husband purchased a gift card for me for a special occasion - when I went to use the card, staff informed me that the card had been used already by someone else. My husband bought the card at the spa and it was in my possession the whole time. Somehow the spa allowed someone to use the gift card balance without having the card - very suspicious. We will never be supporting this spa again and would encourage anyone considering a gift card here to beware. They apparently have a policy that they are not responsible for anything related to gift card balances. The staff member provided the name of a person that they claim used the card for a spa treatment - I do not know the person and they could not explain how the person was able to use my card balance without the card.

Thank you for your comment, and we would like to address that as a spa, we take gift cards very seriously. It is both a gift and investment to our wonderful patrons. When someone comes into our spa with a gift card that has been used and insists it is theirs, we do a thorough investigation. This is how we ensure the use is correct if there is question. In this case, since the card many years old, it took longer to research. We did honour the credit amount to be used at a future date once we could trace the source of the date of creation. Also, with such a regimental system, there is no way a staff member could ever use the card unlawfully without it being traced. Our guests’ security and investment is our top priority.

Can’t actually believe this happened

I’m not much of a spa person. This was to be my first visit, and now I will never set foot in there again, nor will recommend anyone else to do so.

My sister did an online booking as a surprise for her and I for my birthday and had a screenshot of her booking showing the reservation held with her credit card and showing the cancellation policy, but when we went to check in, they couldn’t find the booking for us and didn’t have anything available for 2 people.

There was just a disregard from the employee. Neither the employee, nor her supervisor would even look at the screenshot we had of the booking. They said “if you didn’t receive a confirmation email, then it wasn’t booked.” There was no regard for our confusion and disappointment. In any professional establishment such as this, you’d think they would try to help make things right, regardless of whose “fault” it was that this booking somehow got lost in internet land.

My sister was upset about the booking and we have only had this one day out of our entire year to do something like this, so disappointed as well and so she said that it was not acceptable in a firm voice, no yelling, nothing disruptive, but the supervisor immediately intervened and sounded upset at us saying that it wasn’t the employees fault and she said she’d go to the back and figure something out. In the meantime, we asked for a business card.

Supervisor came out and instead of making anything right, had a print out from their website with tiny lettering highlighted about how your booking is only confirmed when you receive an email. She wasn’t trying to make anything right, she was just trying to prove she was right and us awful paying customers were wrong. 🤨

She literally said to us “What do you want me to do? Take my paying customers appointments and give them to you?”
I’m pretty sure we also were paying customers and in all honesty, I didn’t even care that the appointment fell through, I just wanted them to respond in a reasonable customer service manner. Even a “Sorry, there may have been a glitch in our booking software. Here’s a 20% off and we will reschedule”. That would have been acceptable.

When she found out we had her business card, she also followed us into the elevator to report us to security so that they would help her take away the business card, which was her “personal property”.

We of course did not follow her and just left the building and she literally ran down the hall after us yelling at us in the hallway. I’ve never in my life felt so awkward and embarrassed.

What am embarrassment to customer service and a representative of Ten Spa. We happily went to RiverStone and had an amazing time and amazing customer service and no one chased us or embarrassed us there.

Thank you for your feedback. Booking challenges happen with all establishments, and we always offer alternatives for the same day and in the future, giving our guests choices. On our busiest days, that are booked well in advance, we offer the best alternatives to any unbooked/misbooked appointments. This particular situation took a very unexpected turn that violated the privacy and security of our guests and staff. The guest was filming our staff member with her phone, without permission. We were not comfortable with the situation. We take privacy and safety of our guests and staff very seriously. This was a breach of security.

It was a fantastic stay with some of the best service I’ve received at a hotel in a long time. We were treated exceptionally well, and were surprised with a nice treat to help celebrate our anniversary. Would definitely go back to this elegant and “old world meets contemporary” hotel.

Relaxing retreat from the world

This is perhaps one of the best spas I have ever been to. It was extremely relaxing and very well appointed. The services were expensive but worth it. It was also worth it to go a little earlier to enjoy the food and beverages available in the lounge. My services were fantastic. The only drawback is they do not offer shellac pedicures and I told the woman who did my pedicure that this was disappointing because Shellac was the only thing that seemed to stay on my toes. She assured me this polish would too yet the very next day it already started chipping and I had to remove the polish only 3 days later. If I lived in Winnipeg I would have gone back to let them know. I would not get a pedicure again for this reason but I would highly recommend their other services and the pedicure was very relaxing.

SO disappointing!

After driving for 3 hours, I was really looking forward to this Spa experience! My appt. was for Ten's Signature Hot Stone Body Massage (75 min). I have had hot stone massages before and always loved them...until now. Before the RMT started the massage, I explained where I had tightness. Usually the heat and weight of the stones allow the therapist to apply deeper pressure to problem areas. But she didn't even work those areas at all, until near the end of the massage, when I again requested that she "please work on my shoulders". The biggest problem I had with this massage is that the RMT constantly broke the continuity of the massage by removing both hands from me...and went to get more stones, or whatever! My eyes were covered, so I don't really know what she was doing! This happened at least 15 times during my massage! I know, because I was counting. It was SO disruptive that I was never truly able to relax and just enjoy the massage. It started, and then it stopped...oh, she's back, and now she's gone again! Seriously! My understanding is that the massage therapist should always keep contact with one hand on the client, so they don't break the connection. (This has been my experience at every other massage I've ever had!) Their stones, oil, tools, etc. should all be within reach! Unfortunately, this was the worst massage I've had in my life....it was a total waste of my time, gas, and $200.00!

Thank you for sharing your recent massage experience with us and for bringing these matters to our attention. I'd like to help address your concerns with the hot/cold stone therapy you received at the spa. All the therapists are trained to the same capacity and have completed a certified hot/stone cold therapy course that was created based on the La Stone Therapy Program. La Stone Therapy was created by Mary Nelson in 1993 and the intent of the therapy is to create full body relaxation and grounding. Where the depth into the muscles is coming from the penetration of the heat from the stones and not the actual pressure applied by the therapist. Deep pressure with stones can actually be quite dangerous as the therapist is unable to feel the tissue beneath the stone. We offer an 80 min Signature Massage and a 110 min Ultimate Massage in which are therapists can tailor the massage to include deep tissue throughout the treatment in a way that would be beneficial to the client. The 80 or 110 massage would allow you to feel more connection the entire time as the therapist does not have to break contact in order to get more stones as they cool down or switch to the cold stones that are a part of the therapy we provide. I can only speak to the type of hot stone we provide here and the protocol that our therapists are certified to provide. I hope that this clarifies your concerns about your treatment.
