The Johnson Geo Centre is right on the way to Signal Hill and well worth the visit. Built deep into the rock of Signal Hill it the self guided tour is simple with staff available if your have any questions. Don’t miss the walking trials behind the centre.

For child or the child within you
This is a must stop. After you arrive, you take an elevator that takes you down not only in feet but in time. The displays are well constructed with lots of hands on opportunities for the kids and kids at heart. I loved how the incorporated the native rock into the building to tell the story

We visited the GEO Centre on July 10, 2023. Very informative. Lots to see. Young & old would appreciate this place. Loved the two dogs outside.

This was an interesting addition to our day today. There were lots of interesting displays and a good intro video. Covered geology, space, the oil and gas industry and more. Several things for kids to do but I think much of the content would be geared to an older crowd. Great gift shop, clean bathrooms and located close to many things.

It’s more geared toward kids as some displays were interactive. It was interesting. Nice little introduction presentation. Smaller than expected so only need 1-2 hours to visit. You get a discount with your CAA card. They need water fountains.

A fascinating centre about the weather and unique geology of Newfoundland. It was interactive with items to touch and an excellent film enhanced by rainfall and waterfall. The illuminated floor map is intriguing. The guides were informative and answered questions readily. An enjoyable experience to be recommended for adults and children alike.

Fantastic place to stop for two or three hours, especially if a rainy or foggy day. Great displays and informative videos. Many displays you can touch and interact with. Great for people of all ages.

The Geo Centre provides fascinating information about the geology of Newfoundland. The interpretations are well-presented and relatively easy to understand for non-scientists. Children seemed to enjoy themselves here.

A great overview of the unique geology of Newfoundland. If you have been to the Discovery Centre at the Tablelands area in Gros Morn,, this complements it. There is also a good exhibit about the offshore oil industry.

We would recommend hopping on "The Link" to travel up Signal Hill and back. You can find out more information about this service by searching "Metrobus Link" in your search engine. (Unfortunately, it is against TripAdvisor policy to post web links here).

Thank you for your question and interest in the centre. The Johnson GEO CENTRE houses a Titanic Story gallery with replica artifacts and models of the ship. The wreck itself can be found at the bottom of the ocean about 350 miles from the Johnson GEO CENTRE.
