We had been to several safaris before visiting Gorumara and this safari was an absolute waste of time and money.
Safari driver was speeding the vehicle. Guess he already knew there isn't much to see there. We did spot few Bisons but then, this was the fourth safari for us and we knew Bison was in abundance in Dooars jungles. Except peacock and Bison there wasn't anything else there. Bisons were also spotted, only when we asked our driver to slow down!!
We visited four forests in Dooars - Buxa, Jaldapara, Chilapata and Gorumara and if i had to rate I would rate Chilapata the best and Gorumara the worst.

We visited four forests in Dooars - Buxa, Jaldapara, Chilapata and Gorumara and if i had to rate I would rate Chilapata the best and Gorumara the worst.

Had gone for a safari during Dec 2019. The jungle visit was good, could have been better if noisy environment from tourists could be avoided.

U can see Elephants, Bisons, Deers, Cheetahs in the forest. You need to book jeeps from Lataguri. District Jalpaiguri.

My family and I flew from South India during Dussehra break when airline tickets are at an all time high, mainly to see the endangered one horn rhino said to be found in Gorumara National Park. We chose this park because of suitable accommodations nearby as we did not like what was offered in and around other parks where the rhino inhabits. We took early morning gypsy safari and were disappointed to see only peacocks, which we see on mornings on our way to work, so this was not unique for us. Indeed, it was a most disappointing safari considering we have been on jeep jungle safari and boat safari in Kabini and have seen tigers, elephants etc. Aside from that however, the jungle itself is beautiful with lush greenery and cool temperatures. Animal sighting is unpredictable and it's hit and miss largely so maybe others may be more fortunate than we were. Go ahead and give it a try, each person has their own luck. Beautiful place just very disappointed that we did not see rhinos.

I love travelling through forests, gives me inner peace. This is large forest and animal sanctuary and I had a chance to visit inside. There were peacocks everywhere, unlucky us could not witness much of it's wilderness but the forest itself is amazing.

Quite a deep jungle. It was drizzling d day we went. Did not find any animals except for a couple of bisons and peacocks. The ride inside the jungle is amazing and destressing. Don't expect much of animals..but u will njoy d ride

At early morning safari to get some glimpses but disappointed . However the jungle safari was beautiful as the aroma after night rain gave a fragrance which most city dwellers miss. The drive through the jungle was pleasant with more peacocks opening up their feathers to match the nature. The safari Jeep comes to your resort to pick up and the driver makes arrangement for the entry pass. A copy of Aadhaar is must. Any one person will suffice. Give a try if someone is lucky dont know.

Beautiful is the word that can describe this reserve forest. Even in the heights of summer it is cool and green.. We didn't get to see much of the animals as we took an evening safari, but the trip is worth going once.

Stunning landscape with lush green forest in the bank of river murti. Elephant and Jeep safari will be an unforgettable episode for eash and every one. It was an Amazing and Excellent trip.

What is the timings for this place. Not much we find in websites.

You have 2 options in Gorumara forest. Option 1 - Jungle safari using Gypsy and other one is you can book for viewing animals from Watch towers inside the jungle. We took the Watch tower trip. There are 3-4 trips during the day . The first trip starts at 6:30 AM and there are trips till 2:30 or 3 PM. We went for the first trip as the chances of spotting animals are better in the morning. Based on what we heard , we went to to Jatraprasad Watch tower . There is a West Bengal Tourism booking counter in Lataguri . If you can go there around 5:30 to 6 AM. You can book for the first trip. What we noticed was each trips have 30-40 folks as there are 5-6 Gypsies for each trip.
In our case we couldn't spot many animals from Jatraprasad watch Tower. I believe it is a mattter of luck. I also gathred that in Oct the forsest is quite green and dense and anaimals may not roam too much .. They tend to stay in deeper jungles.. We spotted few bisons , boars from the tower..
In case we also went to Chapramari forest wwhich is another sanctury in the evening. We got a great view from the Chapramari watch tower. This time we went in the evening.

Not sure which Bungalow you are referring to. Based on my trip, you can look at West bengal tourism lodges online as well. This will get you preference for some of the Safari. If you are planning for Jaldapara , Try Hollong forrest bungalow.

we, a group of 8 friends, want to visit GORUMARA in last week of this October for 3 days only. So I want to know that what would be the better one? the WBFDC cottages? or WBTDC guest houses? and if we want to stay in the core area of Gorumara where should we stay? our estimate is Rs.2000, per room, per night

##The thing that I wanted to know was, recently I also visited gorumara last month and saw a Bungalow near The Rhino point/ Yatraprasad watch tower. Is that the one that you described in your review?

Near Rhino Point there is a Village. Inside the village is Unique Green. It is Private Resort. Costing from Rs.1800/- to Rs. 2500/- per night excluding Food. If You are going in a group then the rates can be negotiated. Suggest it will be ideal if U contact at WBFD office at Salt Lake for stay at the Forest.
