Neat little museum dedicated to the history of fashion. Surprised the amount of displays and diversity of the displays. Takes about a hour to thoroughly take into the historical evolution. A bit expensive but can understand. Parking lots in the area

Worth a visit for a least 1 hour. Great location to get an Ice cream or coffee after the museum. A little hidden gem.

Rather than being a massive museum with an overwhelming number of displays, this is a boutique museum showing a smaller, carefully chosen selection of special pieces. The museum also holds events like an 1812 Regency country ball, a 1912 Tango tea, and for 2020 a 1945 Victory dance in honour of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. It's time to party like it's 1945.

Dropped in to tour the FHM one afternoon to see the Made in France exhibit on til December 22/19. Marveled at the delicate work master tambour beadworker, Robert Haven, was doing on a 1920s gown. The exhibit featured French couture from 1870-1970. Gowns. Dresses, Lounge wear. Pant suits. And, shoes. As well, Bes Ben's fanciful hats were on display, as well as, gowns from the permanent collection. A small location that packs a powerful fashion punch!

Great exhibits. A history of fashion and its progression through history. The staff helpful.

Highly recommended to us by friends. We're glad we finally got to see the Made in France & Victoria displays. I don't like huge overwhelming museums with dusty pieces. This is the opposite; carefully curated beautiful displays that are just right in size & selection. We spent an interesting hour learning about the origin & history of the selected pieces. The written explanations were just right, not too long or too short. The short video of the 60's fashion show was fun. The garments, shoes, hats and gloves are in amazing condition & you can get an up close look but no touching please. There's free on-street 2 hour parking right on Queen St. E & if you go on a Friday afternoon you can enjoy the small farmer's market a block away. We'll be back to see Bes Ben.

Lovely small museum in Hespeler. Easy to find. Plenty of parking nearby. Accessible. The displays were well lit and labeled. The current display was French Couture from 19th through 20th century. Some lovely gowns were on display. Worth a visit if you are interested in fashion.

It is basically one room sectioned into 2 parts. Right now it has 2 exhibits, Made in France (French fashion); and Victoria erra - a handful items. It takes 30 minutes to go through. I thought it would be half size of Bata shoe museum, but this is much much smaller, 10% maybe.

I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit, especially as we have over 100 artifacts on display right now that include gowns by Worth, Schiaparelli, Balenciaga, Dior, St. Laurent, Lanvin, Givenchy, Poiret, Alix, Cheruit, Desses, Cardin, Fath, Ricci, Courreges, Hermes, Ungaro, Patou, Balmain and many more... as well as a chemise worn by Queen Victoria. The average visitor spends about 50 minutes in the 3,000 square feet of display space we have at the museum.

Stopped in on the first day this exhibition was open. The exhibit is informative and visually superb! We greatly appreciated being able to see the detail in these garments and learn about the French fashion houses. Well worth the visit!

Located in the former post office of the village of Hespeler, this small museum is loaded with exhibits and information. The current exhibit has 100 individual pieces of clothing, each of which tell a story, either about the piece or the era in which it was made. The collection includes items from many countries, and many pieces are placed so that you can see details up close. The exhibits are re well lit, with written displays telling each “story”. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and there is a small gift shop with numerous books on fashion.
I had read about the museum in a magazine, and felt it was well worth the 80 km drive. The museum is easily accessed from highway 401, and is very well priced at $5 entry. A ramp leads from street level, and washrooms are available on-site.

Wonderful to hear you enjoyed your visit to the FHM. We change our exhibitions every year (next year will be French couture!) so I hope you make the trip out again!
