Once you pay for your tickets to get on the ship you are allowed to go to most places on the ship but not all places are easy to get to. There was staff or educators throughout the ship the day we were there. I don’t know if I would take small children or if you struggle with heights or dizzying effects ad you might not want to use many of the ladders on the ship which are not all for the faint of heart.

This is a simply amazing ship to visit not only because it is so unique, a Tribal class destroyer and the most decorated due to it's capabilities, with a high number of weapons - clearly a great asset to Hamilton:
- OK, is not in the best condition and I wish I did not see the rust or the spider nets I saw outside but the entrance ticket is very low priced, and there are lots of people eager to answer your questions, should you have any; we visited it late June 2024 mid week and purchased their low priced tickets at their ticket office
- named after a first nation (Haida means 'come on' in many European/Middle Eastern languages and even can find family surnames in that part of the world, I was secretly wondering about this) yet the staff explained this to me, besides detailing the bedding situations for the WWII 200 plus sailors who were sleeping in hammocks as well as during the Korean war until the ship was decommissioned
- you can wonder on all levels and see how the officers slept properly in beds where recruits from the nearby barracks detailed more important info about this boat
- squid anti-submarine mortars, anti aircraft and surface guns, high angle guns, torpedoes etc all can be seen here if you like paying attention to such things.

a great tour of Canadian history. Informative and friendly staff. Nice to see the inside after seeing the boat from the water and walk ways.

Visited the HMCS Haifa today and really enjoyed it. The staff is knowledgeable and it’s easy to spend a couple of hours exploring. One thing to note is that the ship is not handicapped accessible. Many ladders, low overhead, raised and uneven surfaces, etc. my mother sat this one out on a bench in the area next to the ship. There were several kids when I was there and they all seemed to be having a good time exploring. A great spot for families, not so great for the elderly or disabled.

What a gem. This ship is not like the others. It’s smaller & more easily assessable to all areas of the ship. We left feeling like we knew everything about the ship. There are a lot of guides throughout. Cannot believe how little it cost. No trip to Hamilton is complete without a visit here.

It was a very interesting relic only remember it is only open certain days. We went Tuesday but it wasn’t open til Wednesday. We took pictures of the outside. They are doing a lot of work on the harbourfront.,starting to look good, but a lot of yellow tape around when we went.

Very enjoyable visit. Only $4.50.
Max 2 hours needed.
A living history ship. Most of it is accessible to view, with only small portions cordoned off. You can get a real feel of what it must have been like living on board, from the cramped quarters to the narrow gantry’s etc.
It was a very brave breed of men that took these ships to war. Upmost respect to them.
Great family day out, but be aware there are ladders to climb up and down and small spaces.

Great tour - we were able to explore most areas on the ship, the few roped off areas were still viewable. Information signs were plentiful and easy to understand, made our self guided tour a great experience. Be aware, lots of climbing ladders, a few tight spaces - would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues.
We went for the 79th birthday celebration, got to see the big gun fired and talked with a number of former servicemen (including one who actually served on the HMCS Haida!)
Admission cost was very reasonable - go see this one!

It is a hands on experience were you can feel part of Canadian History. The Haida is the most famous Corvette in WW2 History. I was proud to visit this ship. She is a live history to touch and feel, and experience what it was to be able to get a glimpse of life on a hunter killer with successful enemy sinkings' inWW2.

There is an unique experience to see a real ship and to walk on board like a real seaman. A quite experience

Hi there, I'd like to know if visiting the warship in May would be too cold. were you mostly inside or outside on the deck?
thanks a lot!

Hi - it depends on the weather but end of May should be warmer and we will be open on the weekends by then. The ship visit includes both inside and outside. Dress for the weather and remember that since we are on Lake Ontario, it's always a bit cooler. Hope this help!

Would touring of this ship be possible with a small infant wore in a carrier?
撰写日期:2018年8月12日
I would say no because there are a few places where you have to climb or descend metal “ladders” the term used by the navy to describe steep stairs.

Yes, there is a small parking area close to the ship, and outside the fences. It gets pretty busy, though.

Hello Are there cruises from Germany to Canada? Please give me some information about these trips. thank you
撰写日期:2017年6月2日
The HMSC Haida national historical site is not for cruises, it is a historic site for touring an old military ship. Hope that helped :)
撰写日期:2018年8月15日
as the Haida is a Parks Canada site and a war memorial no dogs are allowed on board.
