People love to go fishing at this location or have a picnic along the shore. During the summer months the locks open and close and provide you with an up-close viewing of the boats as they cruise the waterways. Grassy areas available for families to sit and have a bite. Docking posts at entrance to the lock so you can stop overnight before heading through the next day. Swing bridge to allow cars to pass when boats loading and unloading in lock. Nice location to walk a dog along the north shoreline, and parking lot available on site or along the roadway near the overflow bridge. Recently, the locks were overhauled and re-pointed, with a railway bridge that passes overhead. Good family location.

We stopped at this place on our way to Ottawa. Very tranquil spot for a picnic, you can buy a permit and fish. We were very lucky to witness the locks being opened for 2 boats that were lined up to pass through. It is fascinating how they open one lock at the time as the passage is on 4 different levels. As well there is an overhead railway bridge. Really charming spot to spend a morning.

Kingston Mlls is a very beautiful serene place to visit.
In summer months the locks are in operation with boats going up the Rideau river and then down to Lake Ontario.
Good walking trails. Places to fish, picnic tables etc.

This is an area i visit during all seasons. I am fascinated with the architecture and historically aspects of the lock .

A beautiful place to have a picnic. The grounds are clean. The museums were very interesting filled with history. The students working the gates would answer any questions you have on the waterways.

There is sun or shade, as you wish, and the setting is quite pastoral. You can swim on a hot day or just relax beside the Creek. Nice spot.

This is a wonderful place to spend some time watching boats go through the locks. The people working the locks were very will to explain what was going on. Take a picnic and spend the afternoon

From Highway 401 take exit 619 (Montreal Street) north. Go less than 1 km. and turn right on Kingston Mills Road. It is approx. a 10 minute drive from Hwy 401.
