In the heart of Kensington you will find a mural with Miles Davis.
The bar is EXTREMELY narrow with limited seats and once packed for the performance, very uncomfortable to stand as people are constantly moving. Make sure you arrive early!
Show starts around 9:30 most nights.
Just inside the door (which is open to the outside) is a small seating area with a small sofa and few chairs and ottoman and piano and, fortunately, a small fire. My friend and I elected to sit there and could still hear the concert just fine, and it was easier to have a conversation. It was warm enough for us.
The cover was $15 and drinks are reasonable, staff friendly. Great place for a date, cozy and cool.
I have visited this bar several times and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great local music experience.

I really enjoyed the music, the drinks (try the house drink “witches brew”) and the atmosphere was great: A really nice audience and super-friendly, multi-cultural staff: thanks Claire, Izzet, Eilidh and Hayotha!

Poetry is a Toronto must-see! The music is always great! The vibe is always cozy, warm, & intimate. And, there are always lovely people to meet & dance amongst.
My fav spot to go out in Toronto. At Poetry you’re never alone!
The back is a nice escape, & the cocktails are always creative & spot on!

Cozy and good service. Was at the Kensington jazz fest, good jazz, crowded but still kept a good standard.

Went out there with two of my best friends last week. Got there a tad before sunset so sat outside on the patio. It's such a chill and positive spot. The cocktails menu is very solid. I believe between the 3 of us we must have tried 9 different ones - all very well done.
Turns out they had a live jazz band that night and although I'm usually skeptical of new bands I don't know in places I don't know, these guys were awesome. Unfortunately I don't remember their name. But I spoke with some of the regulars and they said that most of the bands they host are as good.
So all in all, an instant hit and a very cool place which I'll be going to again next week when my brother comes to town.

As you enter poetry, it seems apparent your walking into a shack but your quickly teleported to a classical funky jazz club.
From the sound of the saxophone or guitar, the music vibes to a harmonic delight.
