You park for free near the park's entrance, not far from Toronto Zoo, and then it’s time to put on your hiking boots and get going.
Right at the entrance, several relatively short trails are marked. Vista Trail is a bit longer and can be combined with Mast Trail, giving you about 10 km of ups and downs over steep hills, sometimes with nice views. Find more routes at alltrails.com.
Along the way, we saw hundreds of squirrels and, oddly enough, a lone turtle. The downside is that the noise from the nearby highways can be heard in much of the park.

Park located next to the Toronto Zoo, which allows you to pass through several environments and discover the corresponding flora and fauna. Squirrels, turtles, birds and insects are to be observed here or there.

We did the mass trailhead trail. The parking lot was half full at 10:30am. We went at 1pm before and there was not one spot. So go in the morning. The parking lot closes at 9pm. Parking is free. The trail is a dirt path and it’s well marked. There was mosquitoes so wear bug spray. We went May 20. There was a few hills and some log steps -40 something. It’s not a suitable trail for bikes or strollers. I would definitely go back.

beautiful terrain from bridges over rivers to cedar forest bathing, lots of birdlife and
views. Road in is full of potholes, free parking, well signed in the park, but no posted sign at the entrance, so you may drive by first time, as we did.

We walked from Pickering Beach to this park. A nice path and some great views on the bluffs onto the lake. The Rouge River outlet was full of waterfowl.

The Rouge Urban Park is wonderful for hiking, walking and viewing nature. Not usually crowded. Family and pet friendly. Various areas have unique features. However, parking is no longer free. Since Aug 1/22, parking machines are on site charging $4/hr, with a flat rate of $13. Who hikes/walks for only 1 hr?

Beautiful park, lots of choices of trails. It loses a star because the website tells you that the bathrooms are open, yet when we got to the Reesor Park entrance the bathrooms were closed, and when we went to the second entrance near 9th line those bathrooms were also closed. Kinda hard to do a 10k walk if my wife has nowhere to go pee…

Rouge National Urban Park is midway between a city park (High Park, Toronto) and a wilderness park (Algonquin Park, Ontario). You're a lot less likely to run into a bear, put tick warnings are posted on the trails.
It is the most challenging way to travel from Toronto to Pickering in the east. You enter the park through Twyn Rivers Drive, which involves crossing bridges that you share with (hopefully) slow moving traffic. You leave the park and follow the road into a middle-class suburban street.

We came here on the Monday of a very busy long weekend. We parked at the Glen Rouge Campground and parking is free. This was very busy and we were fortunate that we got a parking spot. There was security on site to monitor the parking lot and let others know if the lot was full.
The Mast trail is a well traveled and well marked trail. There is a variety of elevations. Including a massive hill, depending on which way you take the trail you are either going down, or in my case going up. Its like 45 degree angle.
There are also lots of Ferns throughout the trail.
Overall this is a great place to hike, but this is a busy trail for the most part.

Best place for a small hike and If you want to go extreme, go down through the park and get to Rouge River and walk through the lake.
