The Bay of Spirits Gallery covers the gamut, from original paintings and prints to souvenirs. A little disconcerting to see such a wide range but that means it meets every price point. Currently right across from the AGO, in a lower level location

Native Canadian art is certainly something o e would need to delve into in order to gain an understanding. While the galeries in Yorkville seem to specialize in high-priced canvas painting, the Bay of Spirits has prints, watercolours and originals. And, of course, soapstone carvings. The owners are very accomodating and friendly. It goes without saying that they are not pushy at all. I had a great time there and I am happy with what I chose.

I came here on a Monday early evening. It was a small gallery with nice, aboriginal art. I browsed the gallery for a few minutes. There were paintings, sculptures and masks. I would’ve bought something but the art was wit expensive, as is expected. Although nice, I prefer one gallery on Queen Street (I forgot its name) and one in the Distillery District better.

This small but excellent gallery of native Canadian art gives you a wonderful glimpse of paintings and sculptures produced by different native cultures including Inuit and Woodland artists. The gallery owners are very friendly and knowledgable and can give you a good art historical background as well as detailed, often first hand biographical information on individual artists. Of course, most pieces are for sale and can be shipped to your home anywhere in the world in a safe and cost effective way. I was so taken by what I saw that I walked away with two Woodland paintings, which now delight me daily in my living room. If you are in Toronto and have half an hour to spare, this place is special and you will not regret a visit.

As a great admirer of Haida, Tlingit, Inuit, Kwakiutl and other First Nations art, I was overjoyed to stumble upon this brilliantly curated gallery while on a day trip in Toronto.
The gallery contains very important pieces from well known artists such as Norval Morrisseau and Charles Edwnshaw as well as decorative, ceremonial and ritual pieces by other artists.
My visit to the Bay of Spirits Gallery was uplifting and informative. Whether you are new to First Nations art or an experienced collector, a visit to this gallery will be enjoyable.
The gallery contains very important pieces from well known artists such as Norval Morrisseau and Charles Edwnshaw as well as decorative, ceremonial and ritual pieces by other artists.
My visit to the Bay of Spirits Gallery was uplifting and informative. Whether you are new to First Nations art or an experienced collector, a visit to this gallery will be enjoyable.

If you are looking for a quality piece of aboriginal art and are willing to pay the price, this is one of the best shops in the city. It is easy to get to on Front Street just West of Union Station. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge with you. Love the place and looking forward to my next visit.

Located on busy Front Street amidst a row of restaurants, it is hard to find unless you see the sign. On the north side of Front Street between Jack Astor's and Badeli's Italian restaurant. It is located above the Irish pub The OverDraught. Once you enter, it is like a change of ambience from the busyness of Front Street and University Ave. Lots of aboriginal art, a lot of it from the West Coast like BC. Style is reminiscent of the type of art that adorns the totem poles on the West Coast. Prices are high but the art is unique. There are also sculptures and carvings, made out of various natural stones and woods. Worth a look if you are looking for something unique to display in your house that you cannot find elsewhere and that reflects true Canadian heritage.

downtown location. Large selection of various types of art for sale. Prices reflect the high cost of these kinds of things, but all the stock is genuine.

Jeffrey Crowe, the artist is of the YellowQuill First Nation in Saskatchewan.
Excellent clarity in the depiction of the connection between land, soul of all animals, including us, as appreciators of the image.
The man is the art, and to read his story, and look at his art is so well connected.
And impressive.
The staff was so helpful and interested in assisting me to understand the story, not in an imposing way, but respectful.
As for packing the print and helping me take it home to frame their advise was spot on, and I enjoy the piece every day.

One of the best galleries in the city. Every time I come in there are so many new pieces. Great collection of masks and original paintings, I especially love the Norval Morrisseaus. Can't wait to go back.
