Chef LeeZ Thai Cooking Class Bangkok and crew visited this year-round attraction of butterflies. It was a most interesting place with a mix of plants and thousands of butterflies from southern climates.

This is more of an adjunct to Humber Bay Park, but it is unique enough in itself to deserve its own focus. On the surface Toronto often appears kind of boring to some, as they go to the CN Tower and then walk up Yonge street and then think that this is it. For those that look a bit deeper they will find places like this, landscaped nicely and built with the idea of migrating butterflies in mind. Even in spring with no butterflies it is pretty good, with the myriad of flowering plants meant to attract them later on. It is also nicely located on the string of trails connecting the Toronto waterfront.

This is a beautiful place to relax and unwind. Although we didn't see many butterflies when we went it was still one of the most relaxing places to be. Take a camera as there are many opportunities to snap great pics. This area is one of Toronto's best kept secrets and on a beautiful day, you can pack your camera,blanket, sunglasses, sunscreen, picnic basket and a great book and settle your mind for a few hours in this area. Take a couple of hours on your free day and check it out!

Very interesting to see butterfies in action whether flying or eating. Beautiful wings and very beautiful considering they come from catapillars

We have been here in all seasons. Toronto is on Lake Ontario and there are beaches and scenic walkways for all to enjoy. This particular path is a favorite and has a peninsula with paved walkways, bike paths, and several dirt paths also. We generally will start our walk near the Butterfly Garden and go around twice. In February on a relatively warm winter day we laced up our shoes and stretched at one of the iron benches. Of course there were no butterflies that day, but we have been there when many were presert in particular the migrating monarchs. You have to be lucky but we have seen so many that we initially we thought they were flowers!
You will see ducks, geese, cormorants and other waterfowl depending on the season. The garden also has informative "books" used by schools on excursions. Otherwise it can be just a peaceful hour away from Toronto's hub-bub. Parking is charged only during the warm months but street parking is available.
We generally head up to Bloor Street At Windermere, and then cruise the shops or grab a bite. Plenty of choice here. My favorites are The yellow Griffin, The sunset Grill, or a stop at Astra for a fresh sandwich. Grab a pierogie or a crepe. The pastries are pretty good too.

We are going to be staying at the Harbour House May 21-23, traveling from PA. We have been trying to find discount tickets to the Butterfly Garden as we want to enjoy that enroute. Any suggestions? We found discount tickets a couple of years ago on Travel Zoo for the Cleveland Botanical Garden and were hoping for a similar B1G1 promotion for Canada.
