Wonderful visit, the museum looks like a cottage in the middle of high rise buildings. Museum staff were so generous and they have guided us through family history. A must visit place, highly recommended!

Found the museum by accident, having noticed it across the road from our hotel. Not a particularly large place though very interesting and the staff were very friendly and happy to spend the time explaining about the house and those who had lived there. Best of all it was free to visit, which was incredible given that a similar attraction in the UK wouldn't be a cheap day out. Worth searching out.

The little Gem in North York- must visit.
I live close by and did not visit this museum till a relative came by and we had a free afternoon.
We had the most AMAZING tour with Mr. Booker. His knowledge, combined with his enthusiasm, made the 60 minutes seem short. We learned so much about Toronto, the colorful characters, the rebellion, and the life around Toronto.. I wish they would teach history like this!

We went to the Winterlicious supper at Gibson House. It was a roast beef dinner prepared over the open fire in the kitchen.
Sheena did a wonderful job of dividing jobs up so everyone was involved in preparation of the meal and each dish was properly cooked and ready at the correct time, all the while giving a full commentary on the Gibson family and life in 1851. After preparing the meal we all sat down to eat it by candle light in the dining room.
They don't do these meals too often so if you get the chance to attend one I highly recommend it.

Awesome Heritage Home of a respected family in Toronto. Not too many Toronto sites from 1850s are still remaining. Loved the personal tour and the ability to roam around on ones own afterwards! Will be back again soon!

Gibson House is a heritage museum showing 19th-century domestic arts and rural life skills besides culinary and textile arts. The original owner of the house was David Gibson who was a land surveyor who helped map early Toronto. He was wanted by the government for participating in the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837 and therefore he was forced to flee to the United States where he and his family remained for 11 years. Eventually the Gibsons built this beautiful home and once again became active members of their rural community. In Gibson Park there is also a public art installation and a large granite wall etched with photos of the Gibson descendants.

The Gibson House Museum was a very beautiful and historical place, it was very nice to see all the relics and tools in David Gibson’s house. The guids were also very nice and cheerful and dressed in period attire. I was also treated to tea and cookies made in a open fire. Would definitely reccomend

I discovered this place while researching for places to visit. I really enjoyed the Harvest Festival. The lady making the apple fritters was quite grumpy.Inspite of her,my friends and I enjoyed the delicious fresh goodies. We learned a bit of history about the house. After that visit, we decided to try the Victorian Seance. Unfortunately that was a bust. It was not a real seance. More like a childish game of let's try the Ouija board. Our next event was the Victorian Tea which was dismal. The worst tea experience I've ever had. A bit stingy with the scones and sandwiches. For a first time visit it's interesting. Repeat visits will wear you down.

Gibson House presents the visitor with local history in a quiet oasis amongst the busy downtown area.
Within easy walk from the subway and pleasant to contrast the old building with the modern in a calm park setting.
We visited on Thursday evening - the museum is open until 20:00 with an honesty payment system, and no guided tour. For me this was better as I usually prefer to go round myself and look at things quietly on my own anyway.
All the rooms are set out well with artefacts suitable for the period and some explanations and descriptions provided. Two highlights, the exhibition of purses and their contents with an area to display and photograph the contents of your own purse and upload it to the website. Also curiously, a picture on the wall, of a print entitled "The spree of Melton Mowbray" Just had to look that one up.
I was also introduced to a Victorian game, called 'Graces' played with sticks and a hoop.
Great value for money and an interesting 90 minutes.
