The Humber Arboretum has two sections. The lower section has the wooded forest trails while the upper section, next to college campus, contains wonderful landscapes designs, maintained by the Humber College Landscape Technology students. This place is great for all conditions. The open air space area at top and the wooded area down below.

Even at the end of summer, when most of the flowers are already gone, Humber Arboretum is a great choice for a peaceful stroll in nature and to get away from the city. Just don't forget the insect repellent!!

The arboretum is located on Arboretum road. Parking lot #1 across from the student residences was open on the weekend and we had no issues finding parking. The maintained park is beautiful and the photo of the steps with the flowers/plants looks amazing in real life as well. Lots of trails, many of them paved though you can head through mowed grass trails and even some trails that other people have made. The fall colors were gorgeous!
Easy to get lost if you don't have a gps and want to walk off the paved paths. Watch out for dog poop...apparently people don't scoop after their dogs.

My fiance and I were supposed to get married this weekend and a month prior, booked a photo permit ($250) at Humber Arboretum to take pictures after the wedding ceremony with our bridal party. Unfortunately, a week before the wedding, my fiance's brother passed away and the wedding got postponed. We emailed our contact at Humber Arboretum to notify them and to see if there was any way to either cancel the permit and get a refund or to get a credit that we could apply for future use.
I get a phone call back from the associate helping us (who was very understanding shared his condolences) and he advised that unfortunately his senior management and higher-ups told him that they wouldn't be able to provide a refund or credit. He shared that he tried his best to let them know this was an unexpected circumstance and a difficult time for us, however, they said that since we didn't "meet the 15-day cancellation policy they couldn't do anything for us".
So unfortunate and disheartening.
We will definitely be sharing this with our wedding vendors who visit this venue often so that they can warn their clients in advance that there's no consideration made and there's no care for their clients - even in circumstances that are beyond their control.

In an unexpected location, close to the Toronto airport lies this beautiful Arboritum with paths for hiking or biking. Whether for twenty minutes or three hours, this is the place. Also beautiful location for a family photo shoot!

It was a little difficult to find as it was tuck behind the ground of Humber College.
There were only 4 parking spaces at the arboretum. There was a parking lot #1 , I assumed that was only for students.
There were different themed gardens and ponds. Flowers are clearly labeled so you can get inspiration to grow your own garden at home.
We went there following the Discovery Walks guide. After a relaxing stroll in the park , we continued to walk the West Humber River Trail. It's an oasis in the city.

My husband and I love to hike. I am a hobby photographer and love to take pictures of the beauty in nature. I have developed problems walking recently so finding good trails is becoming more difficult. The Humber Arboretum has many trials that are easy for me. We started off our hike today on the paved walkway around the ponds and flower gardens. I love water lilies and sure got my fill of beautiful lilies in a variety of colors that I had never seen. I even managed to find a frog, gold fish and dragon flies. We ventured off the paved trail into the wooded area. The trails were very well kept and manageable for me. We didn't venture far as we did not have a map of the trails. We did spend 1.5 hours wandering around. There are many nice tranquil areas to sit all throughout the grounds. An added bonus is that there is no charge for parking. Both my husband and I look forward to returning to the arboretum and check it out during our four seasons.

I highly recommend a visit to the arboretum especially because the Humber River also flows right through the Arboretum. There is a Centre for Urban Ecology right in the middle of the arboretum and they offer pretty amazing events, workshops and programs for all age groups. It is a great place to have a wedding ceremony either indoors or out in any of the gardens at the Arboretum. It is the perfect venue and a perfect location to take memorable photos!

So much to see here. The gardens are impressive, beginning with a cactus garden at the entrance full of a variety of exotic species. It was totally unexpected to see an outdoor cactus display. The shady forest trails are a welcome refreshing relief front today's heat and a calm place to enjoy a walk with my dog. Beautiful ponds too. Very picturesque.

I LOVE WALKING HERE.
The Arboretum is 250 acres of conservation area and wildlife and it's SO beautiful. There's cultivated gardens near the front and a lot of meadow and woodland trails in the other areas. There's even a couple spots for small wedding ceremonies!
There's a building called the Centre for Urban Ecology that's attached to the Arboretum where a lot of school groups, camps, and small events or meetings are run. It's one of the first LEED gold certified venues in Ontario - meaning the building is sustainable and works to conserve energy. There's glass windows on 3 sides for a spectacular view of nature in the city. There are also a couple man made ponds and lovely spots to picnic.
It's such a hidden gem of a spot - the trails can take as little as 15 mins to as long as 2 hours if you go along the Humber River and the bike trails. The Arboretum is also free to visit from sun up to sun down!
