Worth a Visit

Great place to wander and wonderful restaurants! Parts of the road were under construction, but you could bypass on the sidewalks. Very busy on the weekends. Modavie Restaurant had great music after 7 pm. Gluten free options were good and the Boulangerie Le Marquis had awesome crepes! Nice to wander, pop into shops and grab a meal with a nice glass of wine.

A must do

A must do. A long street of lots of shops bars and restaurants. Mostly traffic free though one does push down occasionally. You get glimpses of the dome of the Bonsecours market. Well worth a hours stroll

Heart of the historic city

It is in fact the busiest street in Old Montreal with its many bars and shops, mostly souvenirs.
There are interesting buildings until you reach the Chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours and the Point of Sale of Bonsecours.

Charming

Lots of shops and restaurants line this street. A few too many gaudy touristy type places. If you have mobility issues, getting into stores will be next to impossible. I have a cane, and some of the stairs into shops are pretty steep with no hand rails.

Rue Saint-Paul is Montréal's oldest street

Rue Saint-Paul is Montréal's oldest street, i bet you can’t miss it but if you are not sure, start from Bonsecours Market. In recent years, the city has made substantial improvements to this street and several others. Sections of Rue Saint-Paul are pedestrian-only areas and during the day, this area is packed with tourists.

history buff, it's for you- Montreal was founded in 1642 as the settlement of Fort Ville-Marie, an early French settlement in the region. The very first street was created near a route that bordered a fort that once stood in the city. The street was created by François Dollier de Casson and was named for Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the city's devout founder. In fact, the city’s founder later established a home on the street in 1650.

In 1672, Saint Paul Street was paved with cobblestones, a look that the majority of the street still maintains today.

Coming to life: If you have visited Montreal, you’ve likely spent time on Saint Paul Street. Today, the street maintains much of its historic look with new appeal. You will find many restaurants, exciting street performers, and a car-free area in the summer.

Old but Nice Street.

Beautiful street with old architecture and cobblestone streets. Many shops, restaurants, and souvenir shops. When coming to Montreal, this is a must.

Very picturesque

This is probably the prettiest street in old Montreal. Granted it is touristy but it is still very atmospheric and just reminds you of walking round a major European city.

Lovely old street

Fun to walk and pop in to stores, be sure to read the history so you study the buildings and not just the art stores. Beautiful at night but more open during the day.
