The 3/5 is due to the artists present, Green day, as each show gave an incredible show.... For them I give the rating 6/5!!! On the other hand, I find the festival sincerely disappointing on several points... the music almost stopped for about 30 minutes, the price of the festival is double for one day the price of the Québec summer festival and this one for 10 days and yet, the program is still more than exemplary in Québec!
Alcohol, prices are exorbitant, $12 for a beer apart from the tip....
No clear lines for waiting for restaurants and speaking of waiting, 1h30 for a simple poutine, which at least was excellent!

Grossly capitalist festival. Just a big advert for a bunch of big companies. Line up was good but we spent over an hour waiting for food and eventually gave up and got a drink from the 1000 bar stands. It’s just a board of snakes and ladder queues for food stands.
It had no discernible ethos other than spend your money. I felt like a chicken in a factory farm.
To its credit it was clean. Toilet access was good. Water access could be improved but it was fine.
If you are used to wholesome, music focused festivals - swerve this like the plague, and go absorb the amazing city of Montreal whilst the crowds are all stuck in the taco queue filming T-Pain mime something about apple bottom jeans.

It user to be better organized. Now it feels dangerously crowded. Not enough sprinkler stations. Perrier tent is no longer there. Used to be way cooler. We used to be able to leave and come back now you can't.

Terrible festival. Way too many people and was a super unorganized festival. Food is super expensive and they won’t let you bring in anything other than snacks. I have been to many festivals and this is the last festival I would recommend. So difficult to get out once it’s over, way too many people and security is terrible at managing crowds. They just start yelling at you when you go the wrong way but didn’t really direct traffic? So frustrating and terribly run. For Kendrick Lamar, we were stuck in the same spot unable to pass though while others got to go in front forcing our section to become a mosh pit. People were fainting, a girl next to me fainted and had a seizure. Many people had to get lifted out because it was so crowded when they could have let people through and open the space so everyone wasn’t so crammed. Absolutely terrifying experience and would never return to this awful festival. In attached a photo of where we were and the space that was in front of us but we couldn’t get to because security wasn’t allowing us to even though others were allowed to go infront from different section? So messed up.

Violent security. A lot of people got standed on part of a floor because some employees from security got the word that we couldn't move. Worst event in Montreal, don't waste your money and your time

It was our first time at Osheaga and we were really excited to go. We’ve been to many festivals in Canada, US and Europe and expected Osheaga to be as great as the others. The artists were excellent with lots of genres which was fabulous. However, unfortunately we were disappointed overall. We purchased gold tickets at $1700 which at festivals typically provides some extra comforts like the ability to sit down and chill between acts, quick bar and toilet access. At Osheaga gold tickets have access to about 6 chairs, there were about 18 toilets each for men and women and a small bar to handle at thousands of people. Lineups were crazy. We love going to festivals to hear new artists as well. However at Osheaga it was almost impossible to go to the smaller stages. The pathways were very narrow between stages and there were huge traffic jams of people trying to move from one stage to another. They really need to redesign the pathways to ensure people can move safely. The third largest stage -the Coca Cola stage- was always packed with people. And the green stage was so far away it made it challenging to move around at all. Basically they sell too many tickets for the size of the venue. Within the first three hours of the festival starting, there was no toilet paper. The organization is lacking for sure. When the festival was over, it is very challenging to get out of there. In the main stage area everyone leaves through one exit which is about 15 feet wide which creates a huge bottleneck. We won’t be back.

Hi.
I attended my very first Osheaga festival on Aug 2nd. After paying an expensive one day “gold” ticket, I can conclude the festival is overrated with very expensive food and drinks. There are some others festivals out there which are way much better and at a reasonable fare.
My biggest disappointment was the last minute cancellations of J Balvin (literally announced 5 minutes after the scheduled time) and I heard some other artists were also cancelled in the following days. It appears a recurrent practice within the festival.
If you happen to live in Montreal or planning to be around, then I would say you can give it a try, but definitely not worthy to arrange a trip just for this.

I have been introduced to so many new artists that I have now added to my playlists that I can’t believe it. The variety of music and artists were brilliant. We went for the 3 day as Platinum Tickets. It was so worth it. The festival music schedule is on time and their app lets you set up what you want to see with reminders so you max out your experience. The metro made it so easy to get there. 3 day metro tickets for $17 a person what a deal. We stayed at a rental in Gay Village so just a hop on and go. It was a pleasure to see the talent and sheer joy of the musicians. Best experience. We will go back next year.

As someone who loves Music, I was excited to experience Osheaga. Compared to in the US, the festival was much more lenient on security, sold alcohol more freely in the crowd, and was a bit more "informal" on organization (not a lot of information at information booths), but overall, the crowd was friendly and we had a great time.

Is Parc Jean-Drapeau still open to the public during Osheaga if you didn’t buy general admission ?

Would appreciate recommendations on where to stay within 5KM from the Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal from August 1 - 5, 2019. Could be a B&B (preferable) or hotel. Max $200 a night.
