Well maintained walkway around fort by cliffs above the St. Lawrence River. It goes from the Plains of Abraham to the Chateau Frontenac.

beautiful high views of the st. lawrence while getting your exercise in. stairs are wide and steps are wider than most. well maintained boarded walkway

This is a beautiful well kept boardwalk with extraordinary views of the St Lawrence. There are sturdy staircases for each level. It was well cleared of snow and an easy walk. The top level would be a great place for a picnic in warmer weather.

This a beautiful walk from the Fairmont hotel up to the Plains of Abrahams. You join the runners or take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the spectacular view across the St Lawrence river.
In the summer, it's best to do this walk in the morning before it's too hot.

Nous sommes allés à la Promenade des Gouverneurs le 10 septembre 2022. À chaque fois que nous l'utilisons, nous débutons notre parcours à partir du Parc des Champs de Bataille (Plaines d'Abraham) pour se diriger vers la Terrasse Dufferin. C'est beaucoup plus facile ainsi car il faut savoir qu'il y a plus de 300 marches à franchir. Cependant, les escaliers alternent avec des paliers et de longues sections horizontales qui longent la Citadelle. La Promenade est d'une longueur de 500 mètres.

The governors promenade passes some beautiful areas. In some areas it is flat and wide, and in some other areas there are staircases to continue the journey. It stretches all the way to the Plains of Abraham in one direction and all the way to the port (and Dufferin Terrace) in the other direction. On the side that’s facing the port, it’s ripe with photo opportunities. Lots of little benches are scattered around so you can take a rest. Absolutely worth going!

Magnificent views of St Lawrence Seaway, The boardwalk is very long and wide, and you can get to the Fort on one end, and take the funicula down from the other end.

There is metered street parking, and there are parking lots that you can pay for. We found the street parking challenging to find at times because it's very busy in certain areas. However, if you are going to be there for the day, the parking lots end up costing about the same, or even less than street parking. The parking lots charge a flat rate, and the meters are in 15 or 20 minute increments. We found a lot that was central to where we wanted to be, and parked there multiple days in a row. It was very convenient. Old Quebec City is a very walkable area, so it's easy to get around once you park. We really enjoyed it!
