With the advent of cooler weather in Southern California, went looking for a good place to go hiking. Friends suggested Bogart County Park in Cherry Valley. Drove over to Cherry Valley and found this little park (414-acres) located at the north end of Cherry Valley. This Park has twenty-seven camp sites located in three different camping areas. A dry creek bed run through the camping area. An Equestrian campground is one of the three campgrounds within this park. It also has a fishing pond, and ample picnic ground with fire pits and restrooms. The Park is pet friendly and allows dogs into the park if on a lease. Biking is also allowed on trails. Entrance fee to park is $10.00 and there is sufficient parking for both vehicles and Recreational vehicles. Situated in the middle of the park is fishing pond. Due to the California drought, the water level in the pond is significantly down. Expect fish to be a rare commodity in this pond. A picnic area with picnic tables and a plethora of shade trees and restrooms is found next to the fishing pond. A children’s playground with slides and rock wall can be found in the upper corner of the picnic area. After spending 30 minutes exploring the park, started hiking on the Bogart Park Trail. This 5.2-mile loop trail is rated moderate. Trail is in poor condition and is poorly marked. Extremely easy to get disoriented and lost. Trail is quite easy in spots, and in other you need to climb up steep slope. Mountain goats would have a challenging time on this trail. Vegetation is dried out. Flora is nonexistent due to the drought and wildlife is extremely scarce. Did see four rabbits. The views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular and ideal for photographs. This trail is not moderate in any sense of the word. It is extremely difficult and should be rate at hard. Spent three ½ hours on this trail and certainly got a decent work out. If you are a hiking enthusiast, you may like this trail. Beginners be aware.

We came across this very nice little park on our way from Palm Springs back to LA. On a week day it was totally empty. We took a 6+ mile hike and saw 3 other people (one on horseback). Unlike the surrounding area, the park is green and quite lush. A great place to stop for a hike or to have a picnic. They give you a map at the gate, but the trails, while pretty easy to follow once you've found them, are totally unmarked. But fear may take a while to find your way back, but it is almost impossible to get lost as long as you stick to the trails. There is camping here and some sort of equestrian center.

This county park is hidden to the point where many do not know it even exists . A great place to camp , horseback ride , or bike on its trails . Its very quiet , among many oak trees . Has a small lake , an area for horses and campsites are never full .

Hiked up to see a view of the Cherry Valley, Beaumont, Banning area. The playground equipment is interesting and fun for the kids. A small pond is fun for the kids to look at in non-drought years.
