First convent under the avocation of S. Juan de la Cruz, the perfect Baroque symmetry of its facade is to be admired, from the interior stands out a sculpture of Jesus in wood with remains of polychrome of the XIII, the images of Jesus and the apostles in sandstone of the first of the same century, the High Altar and various paintings and sculptures. As a relic is the index finger of San Juan de la Cruz.

The church of San Juan on the outside is just another Romanesque church, however the best thing is on the inside (PLUS THE ENTRANCE IS FREE, OF THE LITTLE LEFT IN THE CITY), where what stands out above all is a wonderful wooden sculpture of Jesus with remains of polychrome from the 13th century and the carving of Jesus and the apostles in sandstone and polychrome from the 1200s, two wonders that stand out among many other works.

This is one of two churches in the main square. This one is run by the Carmelite friars and is simple and prayerful with a piety and book shop outside and to the side. Visit then go to the church with Teresa’s relics attached to the convent, then visit the Carmelite museum a little further up and round the corner

This is a beautiful church dedicated to Saint John of the Cross. It just a jewel of the Renaissance, with a Latin cross plan (shape of a cross) and a magnificent altarpiece.

La iglesia está anexa al museo de los carmelitas y en ángulo con la iglesia de la Anunciación y sepulcro de Santa Teresa, todo ello en la PLAZA DE SANTA TERESA.
Aparte de su propio valor, recomiendo visitarla por la magna exposición “Vitor Teresa. Teresa de Jesús, doctora honoris causa de la Universidad de Salamanca” La muestra, organizada por la Orden del Carmelo y patrocinada por la Diputación de Salamanca con ocasión del Año Jubilar Teresiano y del VIII Centenario de la Universidad de Salamanca, se desarrolla en la iglesia, claustro y dependencias de la planta baja del convento y permanecerá abierta hasta el mes de diciembre.
Realmente, las piezas expuestas son de un valor incalculable material y cultural.
La entrada es gratuita
