Had visited Kakinada, this sankranthi.. had a wonderful time. Surfed a lot about this place and got to know. Kotaiah's Sweets is best and according to the hype, it's worth the money. It is located in Banu Gudi Junction

I have bought the kaja to my colleagues, when I opened the box, it is rotten. When I called them, the response they gave is very rude as they are saying, it is my mistake of spoiling. I'm very disappointed with their response. Now I won't suggest Kakinada kaja mainly from Bhavani's kotaiah Sweet" shop.

We purchased Kakinada Kaja from Kotaiah's sweets. The Kaja was juicy and tasty. We also bought 'bobbatlu', which were also very tasty. A satisfactory experience.

I purchased Two half kilos and two Quarter kgs pack on 12.2.19 just before going to Stn to catch Circar. normally in the earlier , I will get one kaja to taste. This time I was not offered.
On reaching Chennai, when I tasted I found the baking soda ( sods uppu ) is very high.
The tongue is irritated. I distributed to few friends who eagerly wait for this sweet. They are also very disappointed. Especially on reading the cover which described the history of the shop and the sweet,
I have been purchasing this sweet from Kotiah sweets for the past 15 yrs . this is my first bad experience. I think when becoming famous the present generation owners are not quality consciousi just do not know how to conclude. I am 73 yrs and may not visist kakinada again.

Kotaiah's Kaja was once legendary. When my family visited relatives in other parts of the state, we knew what to bring them as a gift and it was was always received with excitement. Often, neighbors of my relatives would find out and then they would call my parents and plead with them to bring more. We once brought several kilos of Kotaiah's Kajas to Narsapur and dad gave us a couple of boxes to distribute to our new friends and we became instant celebrities. Some of you who grew up in Kakinada and moved away may think a few of the reviews here are harsh. The older we become, the more we tend to romanticize the past and as we become more nostalgic, memories from our childhood turn into fairytales and fables. Our happy memories from the past are often exaggerated. But, I have to concede that the Kotiah Kaja you now find in the three locations as reviewed by Krishna are pathetic. They are hard, hollow and lack the unique taste and flavor that defined joy for most of us as children. If you've never had one as a child and you've come to discover this experience for the first time, you may be satisfied. But, for those of us who flirted with diabetes as children, sadly, the magic is gone. Seemingly forever.

Kotaiah Kaja used to be one of the iconic sweets of Kakinada. Now, it is one of the worst sweets you can buy in this store. Now, there are 3 Kotaiah Kaja stores in Kakinada and each one claims that they are the original recipe holders and authentic.
In my last visit to Kakinada, I purchased 2.5 kg Kajas to take back to Australia in multiple 250g boxes to give as gifts. The store promised that they are fresh and made only few hours before I purchase time.
After taking them home in Kakinada, many of our family members wanted to try them so we opened one box for tasting. Believe it or not, they are hard, no juice inside, we could cut them with knife into half. Tried several of them. All were like that. Took them back to the store and showed them. They said that the batch could be bad.
We went to other stores and tried. To our surprise, there is no juice/ syrup inside the Kajas. Very disappointed to hear the same story "this batch is not that good".
Bhanugudi junction store admitted that they are trying to reproduce original famous Kaja but they are not able to for the last couple of years. Chefs of the store are working hard to improve the quality.
Kotaiah Kaja store in Main Road is the worst and they also gave hard time to refund money even for the boxes that were not opened.
My suggestion: Stay away from these Kotaiah Kaja or taste few before you buy.
By the way, there are two qualities they sell: One made with pure Ghee and the other one with something. We purchased premium quality expensive ones but no luck.

Kotaiah's Kaaza (Sweet) is famous in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. The quality of sweet unique and the taste carry konaseema pride wherever you take this and offer. I agree the sweet has increased it's cost too high compared to the olden days but still this particular kaaza (sweet) always in demand by the travelers who visited Kakinada and it's not surprise that no one leave kakinada without buying this kotaiah's kaaza.....personally i always carry few Kgs of this sweet to distribute my friends and relations at abroad....Don't miss this thrilling sweet when you are in kakinada,,,Krishna Duvvuri Dubai
