After visiting Triyoginarayon temple in the morning I moved for Modhmoheshwor. I reached Ransi Village in the evening. I boarded a hotel named Komol Tourist lodge. I got ready by 05 am. Had a cup of coffee.A shared taxi dropped me off few km away . There I met my horse owner. After going 20 minutes there was a river with steep bank. It was very risky to be on horse back. So got off the horse trekked down and crossed the river through wooden bridge. It was a 18 km up trek. In between there are villages like Bantoli, Nanu where one can have tea and snacks. Many people are on the trek. The path is wonderful with scenic Beauty. All around mighty mountains. Sometimes it scares to look down.Last 3 km the trek is through orchard. The temple in a valley. All around nice green mountain. We reached at 1115.Offered puja and returned. There are few cottages where people can have night stay. People also camp there. Tea and maggie available.

Amazing view as one treks up to Madmaheshwar . We did a slow trek as we halted at Nanu village for a night. However, return we did the complete 14.5 km trek down to Bantholi Ransi. It is a doable one day trek, if one starts at 6 am and keep a steady pace. Before the trek, for a month or so practise walking for an hour or so daily.
The Shiva temple at the top is a small but beautiful one surrounded by mountains and cute village.

From Ranshi villege 18 kilometre treak (mostly up hill) to reach temple. Night arati is speechless. Offering puja at morning then cover entire journey in seven hours, from which last two kilometre is challenging.

I traveled from Haridwar to Kund by TGMOC bus leaving Haridwar at 5 AM; Reached Kund at about 4 PM; the bus was late by about 3 hours. I traveled from Kund to Ukhimath by bus and from Ukhimath to Ransi by Taxi. I didn't find any public transport or shared taxi from Ukhimath to Ransi. There are two lodges before Ransi Village (the first managed by Bhat; I stayed at the second lodge whose name I don't remember now). The accommodation was decent and the price reasonable.
The next morning,I was dropped in Taxi till the end of the motorable road which is about 1.5 km from the Lodge. From here the trek started (at about 6:30 AM). The trek till Goundar village is about 4.5 km with steep descent, normal and moderate ascent. I had the breakfast at this village. There is accommodation available here. However I found that people preferred to stay at Upper Bantoli which is about 1.5 km from Goundar village. Decent accommodation is available at only these two places although accommodation is available enroute at other villages.
The route from Bantoli to Khdara (about 2 km) and to Nanu village (about 2 km) was of moderate steep ascent. However from Nanu to Moukhem (2 km) and then to koon (1 km) is a steep ascent. Stay facility is available at Nanu, Moukhem and Koon and amongst these the facility at Nanu is somewhat better. From Koon to Madhmaheshwar is about 2.5 km with a steep ascent for about 1.5 km followed by about 1 km of moderate ascent. I reached Madhmaheshwar at about 5:45 PM. All the tiredness vanished after attending the Arathi at the temple from 6:30 to 7:00 PM.
There are lodges available at Madhmaheshwar. One is managed by the Temple authorities. I couldn't get the accommodation. I stayed in a closeby accommodation. Stay was comfortable.
The next day I Started at about 5:30 AM for trek to Budhmaheshwar. I saw the sunrise from Budhmaheshwar. After doing prayers at the temple, I started trek back to Ransi at about 9:00 AM. The last leg of the journey from Goundar to Ransi was challenging. Returned to the hotel at about 6:30 PM.
On the whole the visit was fulfilling. During the trek, one could enjoy the waterfalls near Bantoli, the flow of Madhganga river and the greenery throughout.
Don't miss visit to BudhMaheshwar.
I did the trek in 2 days. However, I found many preferred to do it in 3 days / 4 days by staying at Bantoli/Gaundar both during onward and return trek. Doing in 2 days is an hectic effort especially if you are not doing much of physical exercises normally.

In case you are planning to Visit Madmaheshwar Temple which is one of the Panch Kedars, you should plan it in Oct (The Best time) to visit. Its Trek starts from Ransi Village which is in Ukhimath (Uttarakhand). Ransi is the last Village and the trek starts from here. From Ransi to Gondar is 6 km and then via Bantoli, Upper Bantoli, Khatrakhal, Nanu, Maikhamba, Koon Chatti You finally reach to the Valley of Madhmaheshwar. It has total of 17 kms Trek which actually feels more and never ending. You got to have lot of patience and muscle power in your legs as its 60-70 degree steep uphill trek and only last half of km is lateral.Must visit after Madmaheshwar is Buda Maheswar, which is again a more steeper trek of 1.5 km. Best time to visit Buda Maheswar is at Sunrise to get a glimpse of Mighty Himalayas including Chaukhamba Peak which will just mesmerise you and You will definitely wanna stay longer at the peak. It could rain any time in the valley hence, please carry ponchos and do not worry about stay as you will easily get Home stays in the aforementioned villages (if the crowd is not much in number). Currently it costing around 200-250 per person for stay, You will definitely get meals on the way in these villages, Ponies and podders as well. This Trek has difficult but beautiful Views around it which is why it make it worth visiting. The moment you reach Buda Maheshwar all your pain will go in air and the scenic views will rejuvenate you. Please try to avoid the trek during night and if You are a solo traveler then certainly NO as it gets pitch black dark. Jai Bhole:)

The beauty of this place made me speechless. I am not sure if there are too many places in the world where you'd experience such calm and divinity all at the same time.
I visited 6 years ago. I am not exactly sure how the present day conditions are, so the information I share might be a little outdated.
The place is pretty remote. So much so that there is no electricity or roads in the villages in vicinity. Nonetheless, the lack of these facilities does not make the place any less attractive. The nearest village, Ulyana, that is connected to road, is 8 km away from the temple. This 8 km is a very sharp ascend that making the trip requires you to be very fit both mentally and physically. But the serenity and greenery of the place will make worth it.

Excellent place - extraordinary view of Mt Chowkhamba. Another great place is Bura Madmaheswar, which is just 1 km from Mafdmaheswar temple. Madmaheswar temple committee guest house is the best place for staying. From Ransi, one can stay at night at Gondar, Bantoli, Khatara, Moukham & Koon. However, infrastructure t Bantoli is the best.

Madhyamaheshwar is one of those unexplored places whose presence on the spiritual map cannot be ignored. Set at an altitude of 3265 meters above sea level, the whole village gathers around to pray at the Madhyamaheshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This has a mysticism about it, supported by snowy Himalayas on one side and alpine meadows on the other

Madmaheswar was our second temple of the Pancha Kedar. We reached Ransi at around 6 pm and stayed at home stay just opposite to the bus stand. The place is clean , neat and spacious and our host was also very courtesy and help full. There are other places close by too. The road is motorable up another 2 km and the trekking starts from there.
If you reach Ransi before you can trek and reach a place called Gondar about 5 km from there and stay over night. Will help save time trekking up hill the next day.
We started our trek the next day at 6:30AM and reached Gondar for break fast. will take about a hour and a half. We had break fast at I think Panwar Home stay the second hut as you enter Gondar. The lady there served us excellent Parota and maggie with Veggies ! excellent host always smiling. This made us order our lunch for next day too on our return. The trek till now was largely downhill and easy.
The uphill trek starts now, its a constant up hill climb slow ramps and steep ramps followed by slow ramps and steep ramps.
Our next stop after about 2 hrs was for excellent Lassi, you can get other food as well here. We moved on for another 2hrs and rain it us hard. We we in luck as this happened close to another food stop.
We ordered food and napped while it was being prepared . This is the only place we got papads in our entire trek. Guess we had Kichidi and papad here.
We headed and reached the Madmeheswar at around 4 pm. The Priest there is a Kannidiga from Belgaum - Sri Shiva Shankar,( we were from Mysore / Bangalore it helped !) . He arranged our stay close by and also assigned us a caretaker for food. tea, hot water ets.
They have a very interesting system there, every guest group is assigned to a caretaker in a sequence so every body gets some business and is not hogged by one or two people.
Watched the evening aarathi - performed by Shivs Shankar - 45 mins, bliss full experience do not miss this. He devotion and the way he performs the pooja is a treat to watch.
We also re-visited in the morning for abhisheka and then left for our return trip after break fast.
Couple of my collegues went up to Budamaheswar a 1 hr trek further up, but were disappointed because of cloudy weather. This is supposed to be a scenic spot.
We returned back to Ransi by 4 pm and travelled to Ukhimutt - Omkareshwar temple stayed there overnight for next Kedar Tunganath.
The rooms are very spacious and clean. They also offer simple but good prasada at night prepared for their inmates.
Overall do not rush and try to complete Madmaheswar in a single day. Enjoy the trek up , stay on the hill top take in the mountain air, watch the mist and clouds change , soak in everything watch the pooja.
