Drove this route from Nice to Turin today. Although the tunnel was supposed to open the end of June, it is still very closed. The alternative is timed, once an hour access to the old road over the pass. A large section on the French side is a potholed dirt track. No guard rails and 46 very tight hairpins in total. Needs a small car, mine luckily has 4 wheel drive too, which made a big difference. Needs a dry day and will soon be blocked by snow anyway. Fun, challenging drive, but not for the faint hearted! Terrific views from the top, and all the way up for passengers - drivers will be watching the road!

Per me è davvero un luogo magico...le gole in cui scorre il fiume Roya,i paesini, il verde ,i panorami mozzafiato...uno dei colli più belli del ponente,secondo me...e quanta nostalgia nei luoghi che una volta erano italiani...

Pour rentrer de Menton vers Grenoble, je suis passé par Tende et le col du même nom. D'importants travaux sont en cours dans le tunnel de Tende où l'on roule de manière alternée. Résultat : 26 minutes bloqué en bas de l'entrée du tunnel.
Quant au col, on n'y accède que du côté italien et, ce jour là, la route était fermée à mi-parcours sans prévention préalable. On n'a donc pas pu aller jusqu'au col lui-même. BOF !

Un site incroyable, on croise de beaux villages, comme Saorge, Breil.

Sovente torniamo nella bella stagione ai 1870 mt. del vecchio Colle di Tenda, sia per escursioni verso la Rocca dell'Abisso, sia per la visita alle vecchie fortificazione militari che presidiavano queste valli. Da quassù si gode una vista impareggiabile sulla sottostante Valle Roya e sulle Basse di Peirafica. Consigliatissimo
