It has large and imposing structures - larger than those of other more famous archaeological sites. But they are slightly deteriorated by the action of time, and the style of construction is fairly simple, does not have the decorations that are found elsewhere (or they are lost over time).
I would not say it is unavoidable, but it is interesting, even to compare the different styles.
Note there is no restaurant on site, not even nearby.

Great pyramids to see during your visit to Mexico! We went there two days ago in the middle of September there was strictly no one except a huge orde of mosquitoes. So don’t forget your mosquito repellent. Otherwise you're going to get bites everywhere! The site is definitely worth a visit!

We arrived at the archaeological site of Ezna very early in the morning. We were practically alone, as we managed to get there a little after 8:00 a.m. from Campeche city center. We were able to park the car under the shade of a tree.
The archaeological site of Edzna has a small museum run by enthusiastic and well-informed women. The archaeological site is really very beautiful and ideal for children who want to explore and climb the structures that still allow visitors to climb. In the area, you can see reconstruction and maintenance work, some structures are still covered by vegetation and that adds to its surroundings that magic and mysticism that surrounds the Mayan culture. The Mascarones that represent the sun deity are very beautiful and very well preserved.
The tour of the place is really very pleasant.

Very interesting archaeological site, not many people, entrance at 95 pesos (04/24)
Colectivos allow you to get there from Campeche, there is no need to go through an exorbitantly priced agency.
Allow 1h/1h30 for the visit, don't forget water and cap/hat

This small and quiet site is an impressive place to visit. There are still not many visitors (although that will change as the Tren Maya gets more popular) and that allows you to explore or use the on site guides at leisure.
You can clip and explore all the structures except the main temple or 'acropolis'. Don't forget your hat and water as there is at this time nothing on site and not much shade.

We visited numerous Mayan sites, and this was the highlight - even better than Chichen Itza! Here you can actually climb most ruins, and only about 20-30 other people in the entire site. There were probably more iguanas than humans… And not a single vendor in sight.

We visited Edzna during a tour of Yucatan Mayan sites and I must say its was a wonderful experience. In March keep hydrated it was very hot.

This review is for several sites to save you time!
Edzna. Fantastic site, $75 per person. Well worth a visit,can’t climb main building but can climb others round the plaza. Temple of masks has original colours. easily reachable from Campeche & signs in English
Kabah. Part of Puuc route. $75-80 per person. Main temple is great with lots of detail. No signs. Toilets and a small shop to buy drinks
Sayil. Puuc route. Same price, no toilets as they are building new facilities (they are a way off!). Worth a quick pop in for main building but it s a bit of a trek to the further building with very poor signage. Def didn’t match INAH map we had!
Labna. Same price. Worth it for the arch and sacbe. Again,no signs & no facilities, lots of unfinished buildings
Mayapan is closed, apparently staff strikes. The website does not tell you this.
Dzibilchaltan. $308 per person. Museum shut. Cenote shut. One sign about the road,no others. Again, is a building site, no water in toilets, have to scan 2 tickets to get in and scan out again too! Don’t bother
We had visited Uxmal & Chichen Itza on previous trip so not reviewed here.

WOW! What a beautiful site! And until our visit to Campeche, completely unknown to us. It is simply amazing to see the mastery the Mayans had of complex architecture, and how different it is from other Mayan sites we've visited (Chichen Itza, Tulum, Uxmal). Really an amazing secret place to visit, a definite go! Indeed, we visited at the end of our trip, and I thought we'd be "Mayan'd out", tired of the ruins and art, but nope, this place is just amazing.

Cómo le hago para llegar a edzna en transporte público?
O he visto que hay transporte privado en $350 por persona, pero en internet no encuentro esa información.

Hola tengo entendido que es de 8 am a 5 pm el horario de visita si puedes llévate una buena gorra y tenis y si puedes una botella de agua porque el recorrido si bien no es muy largo si te cansas algo, yo las recorri con mis hijos y me traían de arriba para abajo pero el cansancio valio la pena pues el conocer de nuestra cultura es algo magnifico

El costo de entrada para los mexicanos es de $55.00 MXP. Esto es de lunes a sábado, si vas en domingo, la entrada es gratis! Es una experiencia que vale mucho la pena disfrutar. Los guías hacen un recorrido que lo puedes pagar individual o en grupos de hasta 10 personas; está alrededor de los $200.00 a 250.00 MXP

Je crains que vous ayez du mal à trouver un guide sur place et plus difficilement encore parlant français. Mais peut être est ce possible en prenant une excursion depuis Campeche. Un bon guide papier vous permettra en tous les cas d'en apprendre l'essentiel. Le site est très bien balisé et franchement impressionnant.

The bus leaves from the south Champoton Terminal. First run at 6am and then at 10 am (check for changes with your concierge or a travel agency). We took a personal tour in car, for $1,000.00 pesos (more or less $50.00 dlls.)

Catch the 40 peso colectivo outside of Mercado Principal - on Chihuahua at Calle Nicaragua. The final destination was Pich and Edzna is about 11 km before. The driver took me right to the gate for Edzna. Walked back to the street for a pick-up. For the return trip I can suggest catching the collectivo to Pich if you see that first. It's a 10 minute ride and then it waits a bit before returning to Campeche. And then you can get your favourite seat back.
