The caves were outstanding and the tour was excellent. The tour guide gave us lots of information in easily digestable chunks. I can thoroughly recommend people visit. We had lunch and the food was hot and plentiful.

Me , my wife and daughter all went to the caves and had an amazing time. Our tour guide Pete was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining, our daughter has learning disabilities and Pete was especially kind and catering. We also had a lovely chat with Darren at the desk about the caves and local area. The staff and their enthusiasm really make this place what it is despite the fact the caves themselves are also incredible.

An amazing piece of history which is well worth a visit. The tunnels have need created over centuries of human civilisation and our guide was really excellent in his explanations. Evidence of WWII occupation abounds with flashbacks to the 60s music scene and further back to sacrificial altars. Keep an eye on the walls for graffiti through the years, pitch numbers for those escaping the blitz, soot from candles and other carvings. Temperature down there is consistently 10-12°C so wrap up and don’t wear flip flops. Ample parking on site and easy to find.
Unfortunately the cafe let the place down - dirty plates and half eaten food on tables throughout (looked like it had been there for some time) and we struggled to find somewhere to sit.

First time coming here and found on Google when just having a look at things to do.
Has parking right outside. Was very quiet when we got there.
Booked it when we arrived, staff were helpful. Food was nice from the cafe they had there and good prices too.
The tour lasted an hour, a good amount in the group and had a tour leader.
I did love the whole tour and can see why you need a guide as there are loads of paths and tunnels which you can get lost in. Loads of facts and chances to get a picture. Only thing with the tour as there are so many people and some people may want to take their time and theb they have to catch up it may seem rushed at some parts as you need to walk to get to the next park which was the only downside it would be nice to have either smaller groups on the tour or more time to have a chance to actually stay behind and look and explore some more before having to go but otherwise was happy with everything and the tour guide was really nice, had a laugh and gave you all the facts.

I first visited the chislehurst caves back as a young child in the late seventies, went back with my partner in 2015 both occasions were great. Took my daughter today taking into account that today is the first day of the school holidays the guided tour which was a group of approximately 25 people with probably 10-12 children including young children, the initial payment process was efficient, the guide who was also on the counter selling the admission amount tickets then went on to inform the whole group while bending down for the children's height benefit including the young children ghost stories within the caves which is obviously a fairly dark environment then he went to with his hands create shadows on the cave walls, for adults this is fine but the guide could clearly see there was at least 10-12 children including young children, I then pointed out in front of the group to the guide the children were getting scared to then I was offered to leave if my 7 year old daughter was scared, a very pleasant security guy came along and escorted us out, there was no offer of a refund at all. I am sure the tour would have been fantastic but for the benefit of the young children he didn't need to tell the group that apparently people had reported shadows have been seen in the caves of ghost dogs. Not a good experience at all even though the guide did remain polite about it.

Peter was an amazing tour guide and extremely knowledgeable and friendly and happy to talk to us after the tour aswell. Couldn't of asked for any more.

Had a tour lead by peter today, absolutely fantastic , he was great with the kids made it fun and interesting! He added a certain atmosphere with his stories and singing that really enhanced the tour!

Great caves .... really interesting tour for approx 50min with excellent guide. Caves very interesting & good to learn about.
Very reasonable entry fee (£8 adult, may 2024). Recommend visiting

We enjoyed an excellent tour of the caves today. The history is fascinating. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable.

I agree with the last comment. It’s quite big down there. It wasn’t crowded when we went at the end of the day. There is a part where the lights are turned out to show the sound levels.
