My Daughter got me this beginners class for my birthday, what a great choice.
Lee and his mum were excellent teachers, we had a lot of fun and to my suprise we both managed to turn pots .
I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

My daughter and I took part in the beginners morning course. It was great fun! Excellent tuition in a friendly atmosphere. We had never thrown a pot before, absolute beginners, fab way to spend time together and we had such a laugh

My daughter and I have just come back from a half day pottery course here. We loved it! Fantastic teaching and really enjoyable. We are complete beginners and came away inspired and googling pottery wheels!

What a positive experience. Having previously done a half day course with Lee it was great to consolidate what I'd learnt over five days. I had a great sense of achievement by the end of the week. Am hoping to repeat the course to build my confidence to go it alone!

The 5-day course with Lee and Kathy definitely deserves 5 out of 5 stars. Lee is an excellent instructor and I'm sure you would have to go a long way to find anyone better to teach a pottery course, both in terms of experience and qualifications. Lee's in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm about the history of local potteries and those that worked in them added lots of extra interest. The area is beautiful and offers many different activities and destinations for the afternoons. We went as absolute beginners and left feeling very keen to continue. It was a fantastic experience.

Having watched the Pottery Throw Down on TV over the years and loving it, my wife, myself & my 19 yr old daughter decided to attend one of Lee's (Bentham Petteries) afternoon courses.
Aside from the TV we had no idea what to expect. We chose Lee though after going through his website and feeling a connection with how he wrote, what mattered to him & his obvious passion. Bentham is over an hour and a half away from home in Yorkshire but it's location is quite breath taking.
Lee took us through the basics & I have to admit to being the poorest performer of the three of us. My daughter took to it like a duck to water 🤨 and will hopefully be attending a 5 day course in the near future.
We each kept two of the things we made and chose a colour for them to be glazed in so will pick them up in a few weeks.
Lee's shop is lovely too (&so reasonably priced) so we bought some stuff to take home.
If you love working with your hands, creating & learning in a super supportive environment spend a little sum & go see Lee & his mum. You'll be richer all round for the experiences.

Visited in March 2022 for a pottery course as a surprise birthday present (I didn’t know they had a tripadvisor until just now and I could only put a review from August 2022 at the earliest)
The experience is really really fun. The potter is a great teacher and myself, my girlfriend and the other couple there really enjoyed ourselves. We made 5 dishes on the wheel, ranging from small bowls to mugs, and then got to pick 2 to keep which the potter (I forgot his name, sorry!) then put in the kiln and we collected them a later date. Loved the day and I’d really like to do it again sometime!

Great half day session with my daughter. The experience is brilliant from start to finish. Even if you never tried throwing a pot before you will be really pleased with what you produce by the end of the session due to the excellent teaching from Lee

An absolute gem of a crafting experience. We did the half day course with Lee and Cathy as complete beginners, we loved it. Great tuition, relaxed atmosphere, and you are hands on straight away. So good we talked all the way home about where we could put a potters wheel and a kiln! Highly recommended.

We went for a birthday present a full day - the first half day was throwing pots which after a masterclass we achieved with ease - we amazed ourselves !! So much fun!!
The afternoon was making a different beautiful hand made pot using another traditional method - we chose 4 pots which they will glaze & fire for us to collect
This is a brilliant gift idea that anyone would love young or old
Our boys are amazed with our photos
Met another lovely lady - the course was pretty much 1 to 1 though and Lee & his Mum were excellent

Worth checking on the pottery website, but I’m pretty sure that it mentions hen parties.
