Amazing place where you can feed and stroke soo many animals. Highly recommended for all children upto 12 years old. Very reasonably priced as well

Really great farm. Lots of opportunities for the kids to hold and feed animals. Tractor ride is included in the price. We really enjoy our visits to Longdown.

My daughter did the famers day. It was amazing. She was buzzing!! They took her on as part of the team and she couldn't have had a better day.
The team were friendly, she had an amazing experience and overall had fun!! I would 💯 recommend the experience!!!

This farm has so much potential for a great day out with young people.
Having spent 6hrs there today I’ve left feeling sad about the conditions the animals are kept in
There is an absence of information on the animals. Asked several questions during our visit which were met with I don’t know
Simple things like where do all the animals come from? How long do they stay there for etc(cute baby animals grow where to from there).
Amenities wise I guess it’s ok. Refreshment kiosk closed at 15:00 on a beautiful day in the school holiday which was frustrating. Peak icecream time !
Toilets were at best just acceptable. There was however nowhere to top up water bottles etc.
The tractor ride was uneventful - a bumpy ride around an empty field. So much opportunity to excite just missed
Some of the animal pens looked tired, smelt in the heat and were grubby. The team looking after them were authoritative though lacking in knowledge and social niceties ( very young children are the reason for visiting)
Overall left feeling a little sad for the animals kept there. This could be a shining light for farming best practise etc capture young children in the delights of animals but sadly a missed opportunity.
This place needs a major investment and some modern thinking.

We had a wonderful day at Longdown Fairy Farm (as the children call it). The girls (4 and 7) were busy all day long feeding goats, calves, holding chicks, stroking rabbits, bouncing on the trampoline and eating ice creams.
It is our favourite place to visit and it is always a delight and pleasure. No one does a day out with the children quite like Longdown.
Thank you the the whole team for a great outing on a scorchingly hot July day.

We went here on a rainy day with our 2 year old. She had the best time ever and therefore so did we! She was able to feed adult goats, bottle feed baby goats, hold a guinea pig and a chick, go on a real tractor ride, ride the small pedal tractors and play on the play equipment in between the rain. There were also lots of other animals to see. We spent 4 hours there which was about right. It wasn’t too busy, I guess because of the rain so we didn’t feel at all rushed in any of the activities. The staff were all super friendly and helpful.

Had a decent day out for the price but think the place is aimed at 8 years & below tbh
I went with my friend & his 3 year old so perfect day of feeding/Holding onto the animals..
They have calves,baby chicks,Ducklings,Guinea pigs,Piglets when we visited.as well as a Shire horse,Donkeys & geese..
Went on the tractor Ride around the field but feel they need to put possibly the Horses,Donkeys in this field so you have something to see rather than an empty field.. (Not a complaint just an idea)

We went during the Easter school holiday with a three year old and 10 year old, mainly because my three year old wanted to do the tractor ride and my 10 year old wanted to have the Guinea pig experience. We found out when we got there that the tractor ride was not possible and during school holidays there are not enough Guinea pigs for the barn experience. If we had known this in advance we wouldn’t have gone. The farm was very busy so we spent a long time waiting. This was tricky with our baby as I have to sit and breast feed and there wasn’t any seats while in the queue. We also found the caged areas for ducks and hens on the small side. We have previously been to many farms that limit the number of visitors so the farm experience isn’t compromised. After waiting to feed the goats we were rushed through and immediately told after 3 counts feed 1,2,3 go and then our bottles whipped out of our hands. I understand this is because others were waiting but it didn’t make for a pleasant experience. We left early to spend the rest of our holiday doing something different. It just wasn’t for us.

We really enjoyed our visit here, animal feeding times are well advertised and there are plenty of opportunities to do this. Our visit was during the Easter holidays so there were queues for each feeding time, however, they were very well managed. The outdoor play area was fantastic. We will definitely visit again in the future

Recommended to us by friends as something great for our young children to do while we visited them in the forest.
Overall it’s an okay place to spend a couple of hours. The play area is good and if the tractor was running I could have seen how it could have been enjoyable. We fed the goats which was sweet for the 30 second turnaround. I felt the one staff member was a bit overwhelmed and not in check with preventing the goats taking in air when the bottles were finished.
The outdoor go karts big and small could do with some maintenance, it’s definitely on the shabby side of a play farm which I can generally accept if it wasn’t for the way in which some of the animals are kept.
The chicken pens to the left of the entrance are far too small for the amount of chickens in there. If they are elsewhere when the farm is closed then fair enough but I doubt this. I raised an issue with a staff member as I had noticed a chicken (blue maran from memory) had separated itself from the flock, had laboured breathing, tail down, pale white comb (end of moult now so inexcusable for the ‘she’s just sleeping’ snappy comment I received back). To also have holes on the nest boxes is quite surprising when hens need a quiet private place to lay stress free. Instead we saw children and adults actively trying to poke them off their nest (whilst getting pecked). Bizarre. I get your catering for the townies who are mostly unaware of how a healthy happy farm animal should be kept or look like but felt I had to leave a review so hopefully the owner can take my comments constructively and consider thinning out the pens at the front.
Sadly wouldn’t return, it’s an entire world away from Tapnell farm which we have locally.

We thank this contributor for their review, Longdown Activity Farm is very much a 'hands on farm' where children and adults experience a close encounter with many different animals, I am surprised to hear that the goat kid only took 30 seconds to drink it's milk as they do normally take a little longer than that!
I am not sure when this contributor visited us as the pedal tractors and go-karts were all new at the beginning of this season (February) so to describe them as requiring 'some maintenance' is a little confusing.
The chicken pens at the entrance that are rereferred to are the holding pens where customers collect their chickens from to avoid them having to walk to the main rearing pens, and the 'Speckled Lady chicken was enjoying her dust bath as was pointed out by one of our team.
The egg collecting area where our visitors are welcomed to collect the freshly laid eggs do have holes in to allow children and adults to safely pick up the eggs, the chickens do have alternative nesting areas if they wished to use, however most of our girls are happy to interact with our visitors.

Adults are £9.50 kids 3-14 are £8.50 and under 3 free. So it would be £27.50.

No animal feed is sold at the farm it is included in the price, also the tractor ride is included.

I'm staying in Ashurst with my boyfriend for a couple of days and we're looking for things to do. We love animals but wondered if this would be the right sort of place for two thirty-something year olds with no children or if everything is aimed at children!

I live in Ashurst , and you will love it , my son when in his late twenty's got a years season ticket.!!! Just go with the flow at the feeding time it actually helps the staff get all the goats and calfs feed! school holidays is a bit busy with children, obviously!!!you will have a great time enjoy

or the best way to buy is on eBay using a high rated buyer (otherwise they may still have the lion on!

Thank you for your enquiry, we do not allow dogs onto the farm, however we do provide holding kennels in the car park, you simply collect a padlock from the reception and leave your dog in the kennel, you will be able to check on your dog throughout the day if you wish. Please note that these are not boarding kennels and we reccomend that you bring along a water bowl and comfort rug for you pet.
