In uno dei miei primi voli a Boracay, oltre 10 anni fa, ad una virata del piccolo Dornier mi è apparso sotto uno scenario unico, che ho prontamente fotografato.
Ho visto una isola con un grande lago contenente un'isola; all'interno dell'isola un cratere vulcanico con un laghetto con una isoletta al suo interno.
Ho cercato invano quell'isola sulle mappe, senza trovarla, perché non eravamo in mare, ma ancora in volo su Luzon, sul lago Taal.
Quando ho fatto la scoperta, mi sono ripromesso di andarci.
La gita all'isola e al vulcano è un must classico di Tagaytay.
Ho preso un pacchetto a Talisay, al Leynes resort, con battello per l'isola, guida privata e salita a cavallo al cratere (150 metri).
Mai andato a cavallo in vita mia, è stata dura la prima volta in questa occasione,
meglio provare prima un giro a cavallo, magari al Picnic Grove.
Senza fine la mezz'ora di salita, dondolante, rigido e contratto sulla scomoda sella.
Gioiosa la conquista del bordo del cratere con un lago verdastro e una isoletta in lontananza: La gioia della conquista è stata grande.
Accerchiato dai venditori ho comperato una noce di cocco, una Tshirt e delle foto a caro prezzo. Dopo la breve tappa di ristoro e acquisto souvenir, la discesa.
Di gran lunga peggio il ritorno in discesa sul sentiero stretto, ripido e accidentato.

We used Precious boat tours . they provided face mask and water. They also suggested we take a guide but it isnt really needed as the path is well worn , but we felt by taking the guide we where helping locals and at p500 it was well worth it .
Our guide gave us information about the volcano and life on the volcano also took pictures and pointed out things of interest .
You can walk or ride a horse to the top , we chose to walk and it wasnt very hard at all. We advise that you go early as it starts getting really hot and that is the hardest thing.
The view was lovely and there are locals at the top selling water and coconuts (prices are high ).

The hike is perfect for beginners. While it can be rather slippery descending, hikers have nothing to worry about as the trail is safe and easy. Just look out for the horses' faeces scattered around! There's a few scenic spots for those picture-perfect moments and some spots are perfect for couple shots.

Wulkan Taal to jeden z najbardziej aktywnych wulkanów świata (ostatnie erupcje w 1965r i 1977r) a zarazem magiczne miejsce. Wulkan znajduje się pośrodku jeziora Taal a w jego kraterze znajduje się kolejne jezioro a na nim wyspa. Aby zobaczyć jego krater, najpierw należy przepłynąć łodzią jezioro Taal, a potem pokonać trasę prowadzącą na szczyt wulkanu - pieszo, ok. godziny lub konno. Trasa nie jest trudna dla osób ze średnia kondycją.

I always love this place and wanting to come back every-time when i want to skip the city life and want be quietly have peace of mind. Its very beautiful in the morning here refreshing wind blows watching sun rise and sun down would be very romantic at night it was cold mountain natures bugs noise at nights makes you sleeping good in bamboo house and i super love it. in the morning breakfast with other people there eating using hands in a banana leaves rice seafoods fresh fish and veggies and have some young coconut all i thought coming alone was very bad idea haha😂 but popular people come here artist actor actress all becomes ordinary person here all together hahaha its because this lake crater place was like on top of the heavens door super hard to come up here you gotta ride bus or car for 4 hours depends where your come from travel then ride an hour boat and then an hour horse ride then 30 minutes of walk 😂😂😂😂😂 all i said was im give up lets go home lets go back !Hahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂 but all of the tiring day was gone after you see the beautiful crater lake!all was worth it feels like your on top of paradise its wonderful my love of natures explains why i did it!👏

화산 분화로 생긴 호수 속 화산섬으로 배를 타고 들어가서 화산섬의 꼭대기까지는 말을 타고 올라가볼 수 있다. 약 30-40분 정도 걸리는데 오래 기억에 남는 추억이 되었다. 물과 모자 긴바지는 필수이다.

This was worth the money, you take a 20 min boat ride out to the volcano, then 30 mins on horse back to get to the summit of the active volcano. It’s certainly an adventure and the views are stunning. It cost 6000 Php for the four of us, then another 50 Php to go to red summit, you can feel the heat and smell the sulfur. I think this is a must if you are visit beautiful Tagaytay.

The best time to trek the Taal crater is during the early morning. It get's really hot in the middle of the day.
About 30 mins boat ride (P2,500..00) from Talisay, Batangas to reach the island. You have a choice of hiking or horse back riding going to the crater. A P500.00 horse ride and guide for an easy way up to the crater. The trail is very dusty and hot. so bring mask and big hat plus lots of water and sun block.
You will be trekking a stunning landscape along the way and when you reach the crater you will be astound with breath taking view of the lake.
We have enjoyed this tour and highly recommends it.

I’ve been to Tagaytay few times but I haven’t tried hiking Taal until this month. It was an uphill walk going to the view. Amazing view but tiring going up. We finished the trek for 140mins. Usual trek they said was 3hours including the boat ride. Get ready to see heaps of horse poo (a lot). Get annoyed by people who will take your photo once you reached the top and nonstop asked you if you want to buy it. Otherwise view was beautiful.

The volcano was interesting. The price paid for so called tour was exorbitant. I would suggest hiring a car for the two hour ride from manila to the city of Talisay. Once there you can pull into any 'motel' and hire a boat to take you to the island and then the hike to the crater. There are horses to rent if you don't want to hike. Beware, the guide may end up riding on your very small horse because they are tired, which I don't doubt. I ended up walking down and letting my guide ride the horse. Along the way you are asked many times to buy drinks for your guide. I offered my water to the guide but she declined. Renting the horse was 500php. Please take your own water,hat,and scarf(for dust). Good shoes are recommended. I paid 4600pesos for my tour, it was NOT worth it.
