Been at the Bonsai Forest for several times. And the feelings was just the same when I saw it for the first time way back 2016. One of the many wonders in the Province of Dinagat Islands.A trek to Mt. Redondo and Mt.Kambinliw reveals a 200-hectare bonsai forest. Bonsai Forest in Loreto is the highest mountain in the province. You will be mesmerized by the bonsai magkuno tree (iron wood),lauan, pitcher plants, pine trees and among others. Tourist could wander around the area feeling like a giant with the trees measuring no higher that one’s waist. Perfect place to visit for those nature lovers😀 Along the road going to the bonsai, you will see and taste the wild blue berries 😉

The bonsai forest of Loreto, Province of Dinagat Islands is a sight to behold. As a bonsai lover, any mention of bonsai really makes me excited. On February 30, 2019, I was able to join a trip with friends and personnel from different local government agencies in Dinagat Islands. And it was a sight to behold. A whole mountain of trees that have somewhat stunted in growth. You can really spend the entire day looking and examining as much trees as you want. We went there using 4x4s, i heard from the local tourism officer that there are visitors who trek for 3 hours (one way) just to see the bonsai forest. Access to the area may be arranged through the Loreto Municipal Tourism Office.

The Mount Redondo Natural Bonsai Forest covers an estimated area of more than 100 hectares of century-old "Bonsai" forest. I went there with friends. You need a 4X4 vehicle to there. You also need to obtain permission from the mining company which is working in the area. This company owns the access road which is really a rough road. You have to pass through the mining area which is not very nice. I had never seen a bonsai forest before and it exceeded my expectations. It is really beautiful and unique. The flora is unlike anything I have seen before. There are very big pitcher plants and really tiny ones. During our visit there were lots of clouds on Mount Redondo. Views on a bright day must be amazing. Would love to come back here and do some trekking. To get there you will have to charter a vehicle which will be expensive. I was lucky to go there with a group of friends.
