It was interesting to see this unique tribe. The children are particularly cute. The entry fee is a little steep. However, you can take as many photos of them as you want and you can pose with them (even with their accessories). It was worth a visit.

Did a bucket list that involved a drive of 1600 miles from Ayutthaya up into the northern tip of Thailand to visit the hillside tribes . What a spectacular journey and the visit to the Karen tribes was just such a thrill and the highlight of my journey .

Went out to the village as a family of 4 not realising it was 500baht each to get into the village which was nothing more than a market selling the same items. The village people are very friendly and some of the crafts were well priced but I felt it was a left down. They should consider dropping the price to 200 baht and people might be more crafts. Anyway, saw the village but not again.

Je me suis senti mal à l’aise dans ce « village ». C’est un gros piège a touriste entrée payante (pour contribuer à l’éducation des enfants … déjà on joue sur la corde sensible) dedans ce n’est qu’un marché a souvenir avec de l’artisanat que je doute 100% local. Avec mon amie qui est pourtant Thaïlandaise on a ressenti la même chose, on ne sais pas si les jeune filles ont vraiment leur choix ou si elles sont destinées à travailler dans le village pour vendre des trucs aux touristes.

Wat een teleurstelling, vermijden! We kwamen toe en er stond een olifant vastgeketend apathisch het hoofd te schudden van ellende. Dan 400 bath betalen om kraam na kraam rommel te mogen zien terwijl de dames “Madam” schreeuwden om iets te verkopen. Heel kunstmatig en ik had nadien een heel slecht gevoel, alsof ze je enkel als zak geld zien.

To sum this place up briefly:-
Humans on display.
No detailed explanation of the village & its history or workings.
Overpriced tourist trap. We did buy some little souvenirs from a few different women. All the men were in hiding. 500 THB per person to enter a trinket market with expensive items. They got us!
We felt bad being there (guilty???) & that’s not a good feeling when you’re on holidays.
We did get some lovely photos of the long neck women.
Don’t come here looking for a real long neck village experience you won’t find it.

Après 30 minutes de route on se rends compte que ce marché n’existe plus, il n’y a pas de long neck. Seulement des thaïs qui vendent des produits chinois .. ne perdez pas votre temps à vous rendre ici, il n’y a rien à voir. Déçu

While the story behind these women is interesting, a trip to the village takes about 15 minutes and you are done. If you are expecting an amazing cultural experience, you won't find it here. Anything I learned about the women of this tribe was from Google. The only women or for that matter people you will see once you pay your entry fee are the small group of vendors selling their trinkets. The women speak little to no English so there is no opportunity to ask questions or chat. They will pose for a picture and offer the opportunity to put on a necklace for the photo. Once you have seen one table of items, you have seen them all. While the setting is ok, the idea of paying to shop for the same items you can purchase at any local market truthfully just isn't worth it. I was very disappointed in the experience and don't recommend spending your time or money here.

Definitely worth a visit to see and meet the people of the village but goods are 2-3 times the price of local city markets with no difference in quality.

Tourist trap.
What an absolute scam 500thb to go into the village which is literally just walking around a market stall for 10 mins maximum. I am actually disgusted that this is allowed.

We had our Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai trip arranged by Explorer Tourism Network. They arranged an English Speaking guide for us which is super helpful as unlike in Bangkok, the people in Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai has limited English vocabulary. Communication could be a problem unless you can speak Thai. There's an entrance fee to the village that you will have to pay if you go unguided. Our one are covered in our tour package. The tour arranged aren't hectic as most areas are small n cozy places that does not need more than 1 hour roaming.

As for transport the village is a long way from nowhere, you will need specific instructions or a taxi that knows where to go.
Sorry we cannot help with the cost of entry as our visit included entry but having already visited many sights in Thailand the cost will I am sure be minimal. The village is geared for tourism but would recommend a visit to anyone.

Its definately not wheel chair friendly. Lots of rocks and slopes around the area.
