Great staff and nice spacious areas. Cafe great too. Just wish some of the boulder problems were suitable for smaller people. I'm only 3cm below average height for a woman so it would be great to have some good challenging sets that I can do at the intended grade.

This was last minute booking for me to attend a Climbing Taster which lasted 1.5hrs and cost £20
As soon as I walked through the door I was made to feel welcome by reception.
The course included all equipment ( Climbing Shoes, Helmet and Harness) which was provided on arrival.
Alex our instructor was brilliant and reassuring throughout the whole time and clearly loves climbing and passing this love onto others…
Once all our equipment was fitted it was straight onto a wall to have a go split into two groups of three.
In all we had a go on three different walls before moving onto the bouldering area for the last 30 mins or so.
The venue was clean and tidy with a small cafe offering various drinks and cooked food during the day.
Great Evening spent and I will certainly booking onto one of the introduction courses in the future.

Excellent climbing, friendly staff, great coffee and it felt very safe.
I would thoroughly recommend it
Went with 4 girls aged 10-12 and they had a great time and were exhausted after 1.5 hours!

My daughter and I completed a 4 week family climbing course.
The set up at Big Rock is great-it feels like everything has been well thought out, and even though it was busy it didn't feel overcrowded.
Our instructor, Zoe was fabulous. They were informative, reassuring, patient and thorough. A perfect instructor and an all round lovely person to boot. 😊
Would highly recommend and we will definitely come back soon.

Initially had a very good experience with a bouldering induction session but later was a bit let down by the staff.
In a first instance I was sold incredibly uncomfortable climbing shoes (clearly not fit for my wide feet) because "this is how it works and you have go get used to it". Well digging a bit deeper I found out it was a bad idea for beginners and indeed it put me off climbing for a month until I found a different solution.
In a second instance the manner of an instructor was nearly not appropriate, humiliating me in front of my family and having a very unhelpful attitude, like he really enjoyed putting people down.

Booked an induction bouldering session which was excellent. Our instructor was very able and guided us through the circuit. We then had the chance to take the lead and it was an awesome experience. Great family fun.

The kids climb (11-17 year Olds) what does that mean? Is it more instructed or more of a free climb. Me and my sister have climbing experience and would quite like to go to climb the walls rather than be instructed.

Hi Daniel,
Under 18s do need to be supervised when using the walls. You can check out our registration policies on the Big Rock website.
We do offer regular sessions which are supervised by instructors, but are more informal than regular tuition so you'll get loads of climbing done. Check out our Rockhopper Bouldering, Open and Social Sessions under the Weekly Clubs heading on the website for starters.
