We just did a morning trek with Jake from Louisiana and can honestly say it was the most amazing morning, beautiful scenery in the foothills of the black mountains, lovely horses & Jake was so friendly and full of 'southern charm' .
We enjoyed it so much we're now thinking about taking up riding lessons .

Three of us who had our own ponies and rode together as children me up for a riding reunion 50 years later! We had a blast! Tregoyd Mountain Riders made sure that we had an amazing time, we were welcomed when we arrived and we were matched up with beautiful, well behaved, forward going horses. A huge advantage of this place is that you can get straight out on to the trails with no road work. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and took us on an excellent ride with great views, lots of wildlife to look at and fantastic canters. Would definitely go again.

Took my 14 year old daughter here for a full day ride for experienced riders. She had a perfect day and couldn't have been happier. From arriving on the yard, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The yard had a really nice, positive feel. My daughter was delighted that her horse, TJ, was fit and keen and that she had lots of opportunities to enjoy a canter. The leader, Mark, looked after her really well, and she was lucky to ride out with just one other lovely lady. Can't recommend this Tregoyd Mountain Riders highly enough.

Brilliant afternoon ride out this afternoon. My granddaughter and I are both horse owners and riders and were looking to view some of the beautiful Welsh countryside from horseback. We were not disappointed. Our guide (sorry I didn't catch your name) was friendly, an excellent guide and we had a lovely time. As an older rider I was well matched on Orla who I felt safe on trotting and cantering. If we hadn't already booked a ride elsewhere on Friday I would have been back for a second ride out. Thoroughly recommend this riding establishment. It can't be easy matching horses to riders when their abilities are unknown.

On holiday in Talgarth I rang at 8am to see if I could get a ride on a Bank holiday Monday. Response was great they called me back 20 minutes later and offered me a ride at 9.30 I was so happy. Arrived to find a very friendly and professional staff who made me feel very welcome. I was fitted with a hat and introduced to my horse Ella and my guides Jake and Ellie who were fantastic and so friendly. We went and met the wild ponies and their foals and had a wonderful ride with great views of the hills and countryside. I was over the moon and had the best time. Can’t praise them enough 😊 fantastic experience

Jake is a true Louisiana cowboy, and he and the horses will give you an unforgettable experience at the foot of these mountains.
A true lover of these animals, he has named and learned to know the horses with which he accompanies you, but also the wild horses that he meets on the paths.
Friendly, available, helpful and not too motherly, it was great!

We booked a day ride. Had to go back to the yard half way through as another couple changed their mind about the ride as they were tired. However, our leader, Cat, made up for this by giving us an excellent second half of the day. The whole ride was very good, with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, plus lots of canters/gallops. The horses were in good condition and clearly enjoyed their job. The set up is well organised, with a tidy yard, plenty of parking and good direction signs as you near the yard.

Had an absolutely incredible hack on the fabulous Teddy. Brilliant, forward-going but really trustworthy and friendly ponies. Enjoyed amazing scenery and meeting the wild ponies with a couple of fun canters. Megan, our leader, was really friendly and fun which was the icing on the cake 😊 even the weather was good! Highly, highly recommend.

My husband and myself enjoyed a lovely ride with Tregoyd Mountain Riders. We were well matched with our horses and rode to the conditions of the day. The views were absolutely amazing! Our guide for the morning was mindful of each rider's experience and an excellent guide. We felt safe but still able to take in the breathtaking views. I would go again. I enjoyed it so much that I'm going to take up hacking again.

I went for a half day ride with my sister. The ride size was good, with 4 or 5 of us in total and we were well matched to horses. I rode the lovely Tiger Lily. Views were stunning. Ride was adjusted for weather, and the centre moved our ride from afternoon to morning due to heat warning, and managing horse and rider welfare. We had a couple of canters, but again centre was mindful of heat and ground conditions and put horse welfare first was was great. I have my own horse so ride a lot, but it was a real treat to ride a lovely horse in beautiful scenery. Staff all friendly, helpful and professional. Will go again next time I'm in Hay on Wye.
