Really enjoyed Sunday lunch today. It’s a higher price than other pubs but you get what you pay for! Throughly recommend.

Revisited after pub closed for some 3 months.
Little has been changed with the decor despite the long closure apart from the addition of a few sofas! The closure of the restaurant is a mistake and this coupled with the loss of the charismatic Richard and replaced by Che Guevara is hard to accept. Still at least it's a pub open for business.

Have visited this restaurant a few times. The service is excellent and the food is very good. My main gripe was the cappuccino coffee I ordered which tasted more like black coffee with whipped milk on top. I did complain and the waiter himself made me another; alas, it was more of the same. Well, I know now not to order a cappuccino again! This evening was two days after the snow and there was a thick coating of ice in the car park and 3 foot from the entrance. We pointed this out to a member of staff twice but on leaving the premises there was no grit to be seen anywhere!!! Comments from Management please?

Visited Horse and Chains last Saturday after a previous good experience but what a difference. My Smoked Salmon starter was just pieces of smoked salmon thrown on some lettuce, the Mushroom dish my friends had was inedible. The chicken burger was tasteless, no seasoning at all, the burger was dry and tasteless. The service and dessert were good. It was very busy and the kitchen may have been overwhelmed but you cannot run a restaurant where the food is so variable. We told the servers that the food was terrible but they just shrugged as if to say we are really busy and we do not care. I will not return

My husband and I went there for lunch and were really impressed with the food and service.
The food choices are definitely more gastro than pub and there is a great selection to choose from.
The service was also very good and both members of staff who served us were very friendly and knowledgeable.
We will definitely be recommending this place and will definitely be back!

Brilliant food, went there Sunday had the roast absolutely beautiful would definitely recommend. Nice family friendly feel and I was served by a waitress names Sophie the service was first class along with all the staff. Thanks for such a lovley experience

Very warm and welcome experience from the team at Horse and Chains. Food was excellent as always with the Roast beef particularly enjoyable. Good selection on the menu with some very delicious and tempting desserts. As tables were in high demand we were kind of advised we would have to vacate by 2pm but were able to get a comfortable area in the main part of the pub. Only reason not 5* is our initial reservation made some weeks ago went missing!!! Other than that a special day for a special Mum.

We had an extremely nice time with our family just before Xmas, so this review is a bit late, Sorry.
The food was excellent, and the service was great. There was an excellent choice of dishes, and nicely presented, not just your standard dishes.
We are going again in February for a birthday celebration.

At this time of year restaurants often promote a party "special" Horse and Chains is no exception, what is exceptional is that the waitress drew our attention to the fact that it was mostly the same menu and if we were going to have two or more courses it would be cheaper to take the party menu. We did so and had an excellent two course meal for £18.00 a head from a varied and interesting menu.
