Must See World Heritage Site- not to miss!

This amazing place is about a 90 minute drive southeast of Kunming. There are limestone columns that rise from the earth and it is like walking through a vast, roofless cavern. The limestone has been eroded into interesting shapes and figures. It is large and filled with visitors but our guide (Murphy) showed us some areas that were not crowded. Many of the local guides were Yi people wearing very colorful native dress.The spider is one of their special symbols. We climbed to the top of the Pagoda to get a panoramic view.

Incredible - A Must See

Stone Forest is about a 1 1/2 hour drive from Kunming but is definitely worth the trip. The shapes of the limestone formations are unique. For some, it's almost impossible to imagine how they stay up. There are a few small lakes interspersed in the forest and the scenery is wonderful. I couldn't stop taking pictures because around every turn there was a new, interesting view. It's quite a large area and there are rough steps taking you up and down the terrain so come prepared to walk a lot. But definitely see the Stone Forest while you're in Kunming.

Excellent Stone Forest

This is a must see when you are in Kunming. There is a big forest and a small forest.
The stones are made of limestones and are oddly shaped, with peaks magnificently standing erect like a forest. These natural and intricate stone formations are absolutely bewitching. The stones are of various shapes and sizes and are scattered both densely and sparsely, looking elegant and awesome. There are lakes also inside the stone forest. But you have to walk alot, and climb steep stone steps to get the complete astonishing views. So it is difficult for tourists with leg or knee pain.

A unique place - a must see while in Kunming

Stone Forest at a distance of about 80 KM from Kunming city is a marvel of nature and a must see place while in Kunming. Nature has created a vast expanse with natural formations of stones in different shapes and styles. The entire area spread over 300 sq KM out of which area of tourist attraction is about 12 sq KM is very well maintained and visit to this place is a surely a lifetime experience.
