Would highly recommend the beginners day for anyone like myself who is just starting out . Rod was very patient and didn’t overload me with too many technical details but instead focused on the basics in helping me to understand my camera and how to choose and frame a subject to photograph . Although it was a cold wet day in Keswick ,Rod made the day really enjoyable and I learned so much from the experience

many thanks to Rod for a great day of one to one tuition in a beautiful location. Pitched exactly right for me and I feel I have learned so much and feel much more confident. Rod's approach is very friendly and relaxed and made the day very enjoyable

Me and my dad did a course with Rob to help us use our cameras. It can be quite daunting when using the different settings on a DLSR but Rob was very informative and helped us get used to them. He was really friendly and made us both feel at ease. He was great at answering questions and was very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend :-)

Me and my daughter did a half day with Rod and really enjoyed it. If you are a complete novice like me Rod will give you the time and has the patience to go through everything with you. No matter what your level is he can answer your questions and help to get your camera set up properly. I love using my Digital camera and it is easy to stick in on auto and away you go but I also wanted to know my way around it and how to achieve good results. Rod went through all that with me and gave me the confidence to use my camera how I want to use it. The course is pretty much run on what your knowledge is and what you want to learn with lots of tips and pointers on the way. Thank you Rod we had a great time and will hopefully book in again when we are in Cumbria.

Rod has a wealth of knowledge which he shares easily and readily. As well as explaining various techniques he also ensured that I had ample time to practice and was happy to spend time answering my (basic) questions to help me develop my understanding. Prior to the course Rod had asked for a list of the things I wanted to cover and he ensured that over the course of the day we ticked everything of the list.

My wife and I took a 1on1 photography workshop. Rod arrived on time. Took us to 4-5 location with Lake / Castle / mountain / waterfalls- all the available in the Lake District area. Photography guidance was excellent and with patience. In between a lot of explanations about history and geology of the area - much beyond photography. A long day - 6 hours that was exactly what I have expected: tuition during a tour. Rod is full of knowledge and extremely easy to get along with.

The weather wasn't the best but with Rod's easy manner and infectious enthusiasm ( and a large umbrella!) I was left with a lot of knowledge about my more or less unused digital SLR. I learnt to look for unusual shots instead of just holiday snaps and Rod explained all those mysteries of how to get blurry backgrounds etc. He is a very good teacher and was easy to be with. The day flew by. Within a few hours of leaving him I was in procession of his excellent notes which explain things really clearly.

Having done an Intro course with Rod last year, I booked a 1-to-1 session to consolidate and develop my skills. I was particularly keen to improve my composition skills and to understand/try out the use of filters. We had a great day at Haweswater - dodging the people and (mostly) the hail showers! Rod is an engaging, enthusiastic and patient teacher and I learnt a lot. The follow-up materials are a fantastic resource and Rod is also happy to answer the inevitable Qs that arise. Highly recommended! (Oh, and COVID-safe!)

A friend and I spent a day around Ullswater learning photography skills with Rob. One of us (me) very much a beginner with no clue how to get out of auto mode, my friend much more experienced but looking for new tips and skills. Despite our different levels, we both got so much out of the day. Rod is a wonderful teacher, explaining things in an easy to understand way, and demonstrated hot to twiddle and press all those knobs and buttons so it made sense.
I've come away not just with more confidence but also loads more enthusiasm.

Rod was amazing! He got me off automatic settings and I haven’t looked back. After one day I am confidently setting up the camera depending on what I want to achieve and what the conditions are! I really feel that I am now in control of my camera and not the camera controlling me. And the pictures speak for themselves! Thank you Rod! It was a great day and we’ll definitely be back 😀.
