Saw Saltwater Moon recently. Excellent play. Great facility. Lack of audience due to a heavy snowstorm. The gateway put out an earlier email advising the show was going to proceed but would accommodate ticket changes due to the weather. Great place to see anything. The volunteers and staff do a wonderful job.

I went to the gateway to see the show Christmas Carol, and it was well done. A very traditional rendition of the tale, Michael Shamata's adaptation does not stray far from the original text which is refreshing to see with all the other "mashups" and re-telling of this timeless tale over the years. The costuming and staging gives us a real feel for the Victorian era. There are light live musical interludes in many scenes, with all of the music, piano, drums are performed live. No canned track, which helps amplify the art of true storytelling and gives the production an added ethereal ambiance. I enjoyed Russel Roberts portrayal of Ebeneezer Scrooge and the particularly enjoyed comic relief provided by Allan Morgan as Mr. Fizzywig and Linda Quibell as Ms. Fizzywig. As well, the mystical and angelic appearance and movement Emily Jane King as Christmas of Spirit Past was mesmerizing. A great tale done right! Fun for the whole family! The gateway hits home another holiday season hit!

I didn't know what too expect but the musical 'a little night music' was fantastic. Wonderful singing and acting. Great venue a big plus. Highly professional and recommend this play and venue.

Just another week of A Little Night Music at the Gateway Theatre in Richmond. It was an excellent production with top singers, top actors and beautifully choreographed. Congratulation Gateway.

Venue is excellent. Volunteers helping are just as good. The performances including the one last night 'don't dress for dinner' was done very well. Great place to go for an escape.

Watching the Wizard of Oz brought back memories of my childhood. I can still see Dorothy and her buddies trouncing along the yellow brick road. The production brings out the kid that lives within each of us.

People mean different things when they say "Gateway Theatre". The venue - a lovely 500-seat theatre with a smaller black-box space - is rented by a wide variety of community groups. It's also home to a professional company, Gateway Theatre Society, that does a full season of English-language shows from Sept.-May. They range from exciting and experimental to stuff you could take your grandma to, like this year's Wizard of Oz. What's also really exciting is the Pacific Festival, a new initiative (in September) to bring quality Chinese-language theatre from HK and China and share it with all (with help from English and Chinese surtitles). This year they have everything from a hip satire of Gen Y love, to an HK legend (Chung King Fai) doing TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE in Cantonese. Definitely something for everyone, and no one in North America is doing anything like it.

The parking lot next to Gateway Theatre is owned and managed by the City of Richmond. The current cost is $3-5, and free after 9 pm.

My experience is that there is a charge for parking, moreover over the years parking is become more scarce and sometimes impossible to source. There is additional parking on the east side of the Minoru Lakes but that's a bit of a walk, Richmond Hospital also has parking but fees there are much more costly
