A relaxing and educational walk in the middle of the City Of Richmond. It has an education centre that often feature birds and bugs for school and visitors. It’s very well designed you cannot get lost. Just follow the signs and it takes you around in a loop.

The area around Number 5 and Westminister HWY is managed by the city as a Nature Park, and various events are held depending on the season. There is an educational center, so events for children are often held, but above all, it is a great place to go for family fun or sightseeing, as it has flat and level trails and you are sure to see many birds and squirrels.
Depending on the season, there is a good chance of seeing hummingbirds, so I took my parents there in the spring and they were very happy.
In Richmond, which is close to Vancouver Airport, you can experience nature and buy souvenirs.
Not only short trails, but long trails are easy to walk and are good exercise. If you go on the trails in the summer, you will be surprised by the beautiful scenery that is unique to the season.

We stopped by for the first time just over a month ago. We enjoyed it so much we returned a couple of weeks later. On the first visit we just stayed close to the feeders and watched the small birds. For the second trip we took the long loop trail. It wasn't very interesting but it was a nice level walk.
The feeders attracted woodpeckers, hummingbirds and many other small birds. We are trying to improve our photography skills and this is a great spot to do that. Also, the caretaker is a very friendly and knowledgeable guy who shared alot of information with us.
The parking area is quite small. On our first visit we had to park over on Shell Road and walk back along the shoulder of the road to get to the entrance.

The Covid issue has prompted me to look for new places to walk and commune with nature, but at the same time staying close to home. Found this park on TripAdvisor, and dropped by after some business in the area. This is a magnificent place for bird watching, and has lots of information about the bog, and its importance to the ecosystem. But, my main interest was all of the above, plus a place to walk. Sadly, I forgot that the trails would be soggy to the point of impassibility due to the damp season. So, spent an enjoyable, albeit short, time on the elevated board walk. Suggest you wait until the summer or wear rubber boots.
I should also mention good trail maps available in the Nature House, free parking, and clean washrooms.

Yes, a nature reserve in the middle of Richmond. A large intact peat bog, well maintained trails, endemic flora and fauna, a chance to getaway from the city.
Also, a nature park bisected by a major freeway completely cutting one half off from the other, the borders of the park are all major arterial roads such that road noise is ever present no matter where you are in the park, parking is difficult and small in the Eastern half, better in the Western part, boardwalks can be extremely slippery when wet, and no garbage cans on the trails... pack in, pack out.
I walked the Eastern trails at 0630 this morning and I was the only one and it was quiet and peaceful... save for the noise of the traffic barreling down Westminster Hwy and Sidaway. 3 stars.
Also, a nature park bisected by a major freeway completely cutting one half off from the other, the borders of the park are all major arterial roads such that road noise is ever present no matter where you are in the park, parking is difficult and small in the Eastern half, better in the Western part, boardwalks can be extremely slippery when wet, and no garbage cans on the trails... pack in, pack out.
I walked the Eastern trails at 0630 this morning and I was the only one and it was quiet and peaceful... save for the noise of the traffic barreling down Westminster Hwy and Sidaway. 3 stars.

this is so close to the city yet a nice get away from the busy ness of the city... nice trails from the city with some wildlife and ponds and water... and it's free!!!

People who say there is nothing to do in Richmond hasn’t been to the Nature Park. What a beautiful place! I spend hours there, wandering around and sitting quietly amongst squirrels and birds.

Thought it is free but it is actually admission by donation. I would donate C$100 to be a life member! It is such an oasis in Richmond and readily accessible by car. Wish I have more time to do nature walks.

A well-paved walkway takes visitors through a tranquil path through woods and plants right off of Westminster Hwy. There are many nature-themed shows and seminars throughout the year. A pleasant and easy walk anytime you need a dose of nature. Enjoy!

The Nature Park is near the center of a bustling city with an international airport, and a freeway nearby. However, the peace an solitude one experiences walking through the many trails is very special. Walks can be as long or as short as one wishes, with good signage to assist.
