Known locally as the Main Street Bridge, it was part of the fourth version of the Welland Canal. Its two towers, well, tower 170' into the air. When raised, it gave a 120' clearance. The bridge master's house is now boarded up. The bridge was last raised on December 15, 1972. The next year the Welland Bypass Canal was ready for use, able to pass much larger ships. It is often lit up at night. Per the photograph, the westbound traffic approaches the bridge at an angle.

There are a lot of cars going through through.
Everybody liked it.
We can walk on the bridge.

Went for a walk near this historical bridge around 9:45 PM. Beautifully lit up at night. There are nice walking paths on both sides of the bridge/canal. Very relaxing. Can get quite busy though during warm months. I moved here from Windsor,ON., a year and a half ago. From what I've heard, this bridge is loved by most people here.

The Welland canal bridge is a pretty awesome piece of history. On of the last standing lift bridges around and when it's lite with the color changing lights it looks like this awesome monster climbing out of the water. There are walking paths on both sides of the canal and a few places to sit and enjoy the view. There are also a few restaurants within walking distance. A cool place to stop and check out.

The Welland Bridge does change the lights on the Welland Bridge 13.
It used to be that it changed the colors every 15 minutes. Now they change the light for the whole night.
Everybody in Welland like this icon. They are proud of that Welland Bridge 13.
The day I took pictures the color was red. Very attractive.
A must see!

The bridge looks pretty on the water at night. You can visit the park on Main street with the water fountain and cement stadium. It's small but pretty. Also Merritt Island is within walking distance. There is a classy restaurant with a patio overlooking the bridge. Terrace on The Water...

The old Welland bridge they fixed the old gal up with a coat of paint and some fancy new lights. They light up the bridge for holidays or just rotate colours any day of the week

The Welland Bridge is well-lit at night with bright changing LEDs. The lights change depending on different events. Welland is known for its murals, the arts community, and the Welland Bridge.

Great history town Welland with the history of the Welland canal and the different style of bridges, they have illuminated the bridge on Main Street and at different times of the week or season they change the colours on the Bridge, a must see of coarse at night. Every Friday night during the summer Welland has outdoor free concerts on a floating stage on the canal beside the Main Street bridge. What a great free idea, with food trucks and then they light up the bridge at dark what a great job and view.
