Beautiful place to walk, close to park and trail if you want to extend your walk. The farmers market is also great

Beside the train track at River Commons (Lions skate rink/pool) on Timothy Street was Tom Taylor Nokiidaa Bike trail. It splits North of All Our Kids Playpark; and crossing the river past the Tannery, we could turn around and head South to Mabel Davis Conservation Area beyond Fairy Lake bridge. It’s a good “shared” trail that’s maintained year-round. Bike repair tools were hanging for public use at the head of paved trails, parallel the row of parking stalls. For walking/mountain biking amid fall leaves, 15 minutes away, Thornton Bales Conservation Area had three marked trails at the base of 99 Steps. Off 19th Sideroad, the burgundy trail was a quick 15-min. circuit. Instead, we took the blue trail; it forked near the boardwalk and veered left up toward the white trail markings on trees. At two points, the white trail turned sharply (where “dogs on leash” signage is on trees); and this eventually led to Jokers Hill. The dirt parking lot there—@Maciver Blvd townhouses’ back side—was full behind the fence, like the tiny lot (on the North side) of 99 Steps-19th Sideroad. I recommend good /weatherproof shoes, taking off for an early start. Weekends can get busy, so stocking the car with plenty of water and apples is one way to avoid stops enroute. There are no washrooms or trashcans available, except at Main Street Newmarket. Either place, you’ll enjoy good creekside trails, as well as the autumn view!

Riverwalk Commons hosts the Farmers Market every Saturday morning May through October. There is always something happening at Riverwalk including the Town of Newmarket Summer Music concerts, festivals and in the winter you can enjoy the rink and the Ice Lounge. Riverwalk Commons is only steps east of Main Street.

So well layed out. Lots of places to walk because of the beautiful parks surrounding it. The grounds are kept so clean and its beautifully decorated during christmas. There is something for everyone here. Whether its skating, playing in the water park,or enjoying the fabulous restaurants.

Downtown old main st. Riverwalk commons, water pad in summer, with great , free tribute band concerts on Thursday evenings. And turned into a skating rink in winter.
Plus many great restaurants and summer patios.

There are always activities going on at a Riverwalk Commons
The town has done an amazing job building this section
From the many concerts during the summer to the wading pool for the little ones

Newmarket Riverwalk Coiomons is part of the rejuvinated area in the old part of downtown Newmarket (away from the hustle & bustle of the big box stores up on Yonge street!). There is a plethora of new restaurants within 2 mins walking and it's right across the street from Fairy lake! Saturday's we have the farmers market (seasonal), small wading pool that is converted to an ice ring in the winter and All Our Kids playground which is 2 minutes away. After living in Newmarket for over 20 years, I am so happy to see the revitalized downtown and it's a great spot for families, couples, or just to take a walk and chill and watch the world go by! Please do come to Newmarket and check out Riverwalk Commons! :)
