15mins on Thomas to pick up supplies from Ropley to Alresford.The Thomas exterior of the train looked disgusting,not been cleaned for a long time.Thomas actually looked like he had a part time chimney sweeps job it was that dirty.
When we got to be seated in the carriage it was even worse.On our table was a thick layer of what can only be described as Kid Crud.along with a pool,yes a pool of condensation on the table.The train was past "tired" in the fifties.This was unbelievable.
The "fairground"was literally two small rides of about 15 ft diameter.How this was to serve as all day entertainment staggers me.The Dusty and Rusty show had no seating whatsoever.you just stood on the far side of the track and heard a lot of tannoy like commotion,then you had to strain your gaze across the tracks (with all the steam and smoke from the trains) trying to figure out who was doing what on the tannoy.This "event " must have been organised by a man called Biggs,whose last Great Train Robbery went south.Dont even bother booking

Not impressed with train going one way for 15min and then reversing for 15min back. Thought we would at
least get some sort of “trip”. Glad we did for boys, but won’t do again

My wife and I took our 3 year-old grandson. We were skeptical to be honest, because quite often this type of event proves in the flesh to be less than advertised, but this was well done. Our Thomas-mad grandson loved it and a little to our surprise, we enjoyed it too. There were 2 full-size replica engines, Thomas & Percy, towing carriages, with rides every 15 minutes. The queuing time for the train rides was mostly one cycle, in other words we caught the second departure, so one of us waited and the other meanwhile took the grandson off to another activity. The Fat Controller and his train staff were excellent; we were told that there is a training course followed by selection process, and a high proportion fail. It helped that it was held at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre/museum, so there was a lot to do, including a bunch of permanent local enthusiasts operating local model trains and a free ride-on miniature railway that wound its way through woods which had been decorated by various toys well known to small children. It was a really good day out, enjoyed by all 3 of us. A lot of people had taken picnics and we wished that we had done so, as with hindsight the 3 hours we had allowed ourselves could have been more. One minor complaint; if, as was the case, the train rides finished 30 minutes before the advertised closing time, this should be publicised. We planned to have one last ride on Thomas, our grandson was upset when we got there at 4:30, just to see the last train of the day pulling out. It is understandable that the steam trains might close earlier than the event’s closing time, but they should make this clear. And one tip, perhaps. The tickets at the door were the same basic price as the on-line tickets that we bought from quaytickets.com, but there was an additional £4.66 administration/credit charge added to the on line tickets. So we paid £4.66 more than if we had bought at the door.

My almost 7-year old son was so stoked to attend this event and to be honest HE says that he had a good time. From the paying person point of view, this was way overpriced for a train "ride" that lasted less than 10 minutes. We went in one direction for maybe a few miles and then reversed right back to the starting point. The most exciting thing was for the people who were stopped in their cars on the street as the train passed them by! The majority of kids on the ride were below the age of 3 which is a shame because they really haven't got a clue. My son is an expert on all things Thomas and the parents of the Thomas toddlers were not very kind. The activities were lame and mostly involved tents where you could purchase overpriced merchandise. Take your child to a toy store and buy them a bunch of Thomas stuff instead and you will all be happy!

Was extremely disappointed with the train ride itself. It was about 20 minutes, max. and majority of it is concrete and buildings. The train pulls out of a tunnel for about 2-3 minutes where, if you are fortunate enough to be the proper side of the train, you get a nice view of the lake. My family ended up on the wrong side and my kids were rewarded with a beautiful concrete wall as they watched the families on the lake side of the train gaze out their windows. Seems like a sham that they fill the trains up and let half the kids get beautiful lake views and half the kids get to star at a wall.
That said, there were some fun things to do off the train. Playing with the train sets and boarding some of the old time trains, and some fun activities outside were some of the pluses that my kids actually enjoyed. However, the food they offered was not good and extremely overpriced.
For the $20+ dollars per ticket price tag, I didn't really think this was worth it and my family probably won't be doing this event again. They need to improve the train ride and the prices.
That said, there were some fun things to do off the train. Playing with the train sets and boarding some of the old time trains, and some fun activities outside were some of the pluses that my kids actually enjoyed. However, the food they offered was not good and extremely overpriced.

We saw Thomas again this year! The first year we went we decided to do the one in Uxbridge so this year decided to go to St. Thomas. This one is much larger and seemed more well organized. There were food stands and bubbles and lots of outdoor activities....then inside was filled with trains and bouncy castles...kids could make their own conductor hats and buttons....so great!
We are going back to St. Thomas today to see Thomas again!!!!

Even though it rained, this was an amazing adventure! We will definitely be attending again!!
This was our 2nd time doing Day Out with Thomas. 2 yrs ago we did it in Uxbridge, Ontario but this event in St. Thomas is so well organized. We have had bad luck with the weather as it rained both times we attended.
We stayed in London, ON which was about 30 mins drive.
NOTE: Make sure if using Google Maps you enter St. Thomas. I had the right map up but London has an 80 Wilson also so the map changed to London and we were 30 mins late and missed our train but luckily they were very accommodating.
Because of the rain most activities were inside which was nice. They had Bouncey castles, gift shop, model trains, pictures with Sr. Topham Hatt, 2 different sections with train tables for the children to play, movie and story telling area, activity area for colouring and play-doh, button making and magic show. Bouncey Maze outside and bubble blowing station, food trucks.
Covered area for stroller parking and while you waited for the train. Downfall because it was raining was that the train doesn't have windows but the kids enjoyed playing in the water on the windows sill and waving to cars and people at the road crossings.
Would 100% recommend this event in St. Thomas, ON.

When we got there I have to admit that I was underwhelmed at the activities available. At first glance there didn't seem to be a lot. However, I was looking at it from an adult's point of view - my son loved it. Outside they had some beanbag games, a bubble making station, an area with plasma cars and toddler bikes, a reptile exhibit and a few areas for pictures, including a meet and greet with Sir Topham Hat. Inside there were Imaginarium train tables and Duplo train sets to play with, two bouncy castles (one for younger and one for older kids). They also had a storytelling area and a craft and song area. It was enough that we spent about two hours letting our son go from station to station. The Thomas train itself was awesome. It looked just like Thomas, with moving eyes and mouth. The ride was about 20 minutes with a little storyline played over a speaker about picking up the day's special. At the end, my son got a Jr. Conductor certificate. Overall it was worth it and if my son wants to go again next year, we will.

Thomas is the first car....the others are more of a mix...some had windows that were down, others were more open air...we've done this 4 years in a row so we've sat in a few different things ones and never had a bad experience.

It's a long line it's kinda hard to choice on the Thomas and Percy train but on the 45 mins train ride you can upgrade to first class or the dinner cabin for AC
