By boat you can enjoy the serene scenery of the Georgian Bay, eat at the Snug Harbour restaurant, play volley ball at the beach near by. You can come to the restaurant by car and the lighthouse by boat, canoe, kayak, SUP. Get outdoors and enjoy your life and love your people.

Fish and chips are the best I've had anywhere. Great atmosphere, on the water. There is road access but I always boat in with my family

A neat place to stop if your close by in a boat. I would not chase it down and go out of my way but there is a good dock there and some history behind it.

A gateway to this part of Georgian Bay. Start at Snug Harbour and see this iconic range light. From it you can see Red Rock lighthouse, which guides the big ships into Parry Sound.

We saw this as a part of our lake cruise in this lovely lake area of Parry Sound.It is just another little landmark that can be of interest to tourists like us from Australia

Over the last several years the federal government in their wisdom have chosen to get away from manning a lighthouse wherever possible. This is often because cost of paying the wage and benefits of the keeper of such a federally run property. However this site has never been manned from what I can tell but still plays an important part in keeping the Canadian sea lanes safe for boaters. In this area it is mostly pleasure boaters within cottage country. Lighthouses are loved by Canadians everywhere thus the positive comments written by others here regarding this place. I totally agree with these comments as my visit here was positive but just sharing some of my sights here with others.
Even the Canadian Coast Guard station at Parry Sound, Ontario is only manned when called out for emergencies. Operations have been moved to Sarina, Ontario in an attempt to save money. Enforcement of boating laws are left to the OPP Marine Unit in Parry Sound, Ontario. The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary is often used by the OPP as a back up for emergencies. Often the personnel are trained volunteer from local fire departments.
May such places be a positive reminder of the important history that such places have and never be forgotten! Totally enjoyed my visit here and hope plus trust others will as well in the future.

The area around the lighthouse, which is located on Snug Island, is very picturesque and we paddled there numerus times on our way to and from Franklin Island. It is possible to paddle around Snug Island through a narrow, rocky passage. The Gilly's Snug Harbour Restaurant & Marine is nearby. Overall, it is a beautiful location.

From highway 400 take the road leading to Killbear Provincial Park and before you reach the park, there should be a sign-take the road leading to Snug Harbour. Take a look at Google map.
