Kernave Archaelogical Site (Cultural Preserve) has both indoor and outdoor activities and tours. Better to book a guide to get the real historical analysis and relevance and make your visit a worthwhile experience. The site also has a Catholic Church and nearby restaurant Kernave Slenis and a souvenir shop.

One hour from hotel. Fantastic place. A lot of piliakalnis local name for fortress hills in a large valley where a river flows. Incredibly relaxing place. There is also an archaeological museum.

Si respira un'atmosfera incredibile tra queste colline dalla cima piatta, simili a come doveva essere la Roma arcaica dei sette colli. Dietro si estende una vasta valle con il fiume. Una quarantina di minuti da Vilnius in macchina.

We took private guided tour and visited this ancient capital of Lithuania, now Cultural Heritage Reserve declared by UNESCO. Drawing the past of over 10000 years, this is the spot where King Mindaugas had his coronation in 1253. The place consists of five old hill fort mounds, grassy, uneven lands, considered as archeological remains of ancient town. It's not necessary to walk up and down all the mounds, but one can walk upto central mound to have a feel of the place. The traces of history indicate that there was a human settlement and flourishing major trade centre from 12th century at this place. Please cover your head with cap and also carry a water bottle as it's quite hot even during our visit ( in August). Don't miss the informative museum at the entrance of mounds. There is small cafe serving light snacks and soft drinks.

Un lugar muy único a solo 40 minutos de Vilnius. Merece la pena si se dispone de un poco de tiempo. Lo mejor de todo, casi no hay gente, o sea que se puede sacar unas fotos muy buenas.

It is a Unesco World Heritage site rich in medieval history. What was once the capital of medieval Lithuania, now is just a piece of land with hills and nothing more. The pathway should be improved. As of now walking there is not interesting if you have no guide. I have learned more from searching on google about Kernave than what information was available there. The hills were not marked with names and/or descriptions that could be understood internationally. It was not foreign tourist friendly. No english.

This was part of a fully-guided tour so I didn't really know what to expect, but it was very beautiful, serene, and peaceful. Stop on the way to Trakai to go for a walk and climb some hills.

It is a large paleo settlement diffused on several hills at the beginning of a beautiful valley where a big river is flowing. The site includes an interesting museum. This land appears the more and the more full of history.

This is a UNESCO PROTECTED site. The city was the former capital of the country. When we arrived the city the street was empty without seeing any car or people. There is a museum in the city but was closed that day. It is extremely quiet and clean. A well paved boulevard led us to a Church. Next to the church it has a wonderful view. There are rolling hills and rivers. If you have energy you may go down to enjoy the nature. However we were too tired that day. This is also the archeological site and protected by UNESCO for further discovery.
