Admission by donation.
Curator was wonderful- very well informed.
Interesting to see items in a museum that I grew up with- pick up sticks and a metal National cash register that stores copper pennies!
The ad for a local hotel quotes rates at $1 per night!

Down the lane from the Haliburton Highlands Museum, is an 1870’s farmstead. We discovered it when we were on the way into the Sculpture Forest. Admission to the grounds is by donation. Lots of free parking is located in front of the Art School.
The whole area was quite picturesque with the changing fall colours! The display is small but interesting with a log cabin, barn, drive shed and tools. There is a dry fit stone wall which bore a warning sign of an active wasp nest!
A great way to see how our ancestors lived!

The lady who greeted us was so helpful and enthusiastic. She gave us local recommendations for restaurants and museums. The museum is very interesting and worth the visit!

A smaller museum. Interesting place with room dedicated to the early lumbering industry, snowmobiles, local car dealers, etc.

I called a few days in advance to make sure they were open during the winter hours. When I arrived I basically got a tour and really good conversation about the history of the area. Staff was extremely friendly!

Finally had the chance to visit this museum and found it interesting. A bit eclectic in its collection but any one with an interest in local history will enjoy a visit here. Don't forget to visit the other building for a glimpse into the past.

since we traveled off season only the main building was opened. The displays were in a stage of flux as the staff was changing and repairing certain exhibits. however we still found the museum interesting and well signed. Staff were very friendly and helpful

THe museum itself is very interesting but the little Reid house was exceptional. You truly felt as if you had stepped back in time. I was really impressed. THe kitchen was amazing. This is a place for history buffs.

No bad, not great - very average. A few signs posted on a few tree species and we never got into the museum proper since the attendant was away on a 10 minute break for over an hour so we left since we have limited time off and could not waste anymore of a Saturday.

This is a very good museum for a small community. The display of the local history is excellent. The staff are "over the top" friendly and helpful. On the day we visited the curator was conducting a demonstration of boiling off the maple sugar, which was extremely interesting.
