I am beyond disappointed with my recent experience at Dinton Pastures Country Park, which was utterly ruined by the callous and money-grabbing attitude of Wokingham Borough Council. After a wonderful day outdoors, my family was subjected to a heartless penalty for a mere 24-minute overstay beyond our paid 3-hour parking session. The reason for this overstay? An unforeseen medical emergency involving our young son, who suffers from a condition that caused an uncontrollable nosebleed. Despite providing clear evidence and explaining the situation, the council coldly rejected our appeal and forced us to pay a hefty fine, or risk having the amount doubled.
This is the same council that locks the gates at exactly 5 PM, stranding visitors who may be enjoying the park, and then demands an outrageous £115 per vehicle to reopen them. It’s clear that Wokingham Borough Council is more interested in extracting money from its visitors than in promoting exercise and outdoor activities.
If the council put even half the effort into encouraging healthy lifestyles and outdoor recreation as they do in squeezing every penny out of people, they might see a significant reduction in their adults' social care bill. But instead, they choose to nickel and dime families who are simply trying to enjoy a day out.
I will never return to Dinton Pastures and strongly advise others to avoid it as well. There are plenty of other parks where visitors are treated with respect and fairness, rather than as cash cows for a greedy council. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

Nice place for a walk and really should be scoring 4 or 5 stars, but three complaints, each worthy of dropping a point…….

1) Over the years the car parking has become extortionate. £2.30 per hour at the time of writing.

2) Signs clearly state that cyclists should not exceed a jogging speed and that pedestrians have priority. Unfortunately it seems that cyclists can’t read on both counts, or simply think that the rules don’t apply to them personally.

3) Signs clearly state that dogs should be kept under control and on a lead. Unfortunately it seems that dog walkers suffer the same affliction as the cyclists.

The park needs wardens enforcing the rules before there is an accident. Yeah yeah, I know…. That would cost money and they’d have an excuse to increase the car park charges to cover it 🤦♂️

The appearance of the area around the car park in this country park owned by Wokingham Borough Council is untidy and unwelcoming. Add to that a pathetic lack of signage and a cafe more reminiscent of a soup kitchen it all made for a most disappointing experience. coupled with eshorbiant car park charges this facility does not reflect well on the local authority responsible for the upkeep of this amenity.
We suggest that Council Officials responsible should take a trip to a National Trust property to see how Dinton Pastures could be better managed.

One of our favourite places to go, such a lovely walk and the park is brilliant, had the park to ourselves which my toddler loved and was surprised about (Thursday 4:30-6:00pm) the roundabout doesn’t work but apart from that it’s one of our favourite country parks

Really nice park with a lovely play park for the kids. Parking was quite expensive but presumably it goes into the upkeep of the park.
The cafe seemed good and was happy with the food they served ,toilets were clean.
The play park had a variety of climbing frames for all ages.
Would recommend

We paid £4 to park our car for a couple of hours but were actually there less than an hour due to the play park being waterlogged and there being no dog free areas to have food.
We all like dogs, but my toddler is sometimes frightened of big dogs which are too close and two dogs came to the table next to us, one of which was very smelly having been in the lake. It started shaking its coat in the space where food was being served from the kitchen, which was wholly inappropriate.
There were no dog free areas at all and we would really appreciate a dog free zone in the cafe, otherwise this is one place we won’t be returning to sadly.

Sat at one of their cafes.There was a long queue.So decided to find a table and used the QR card on the table Quick service and was very efficient. Well done .Highly recommended

Came here yesterday with my family including my 2 young grandchildren. We were really impressed with the huge number of parking spaces and the fact all day parking only cost £8 which was really good value. There is a really lovely play park for the kids with plenty of rides and activities to suit all ages and abilities. There were plenty of lovely places to stop for a picnic with lots of available picnic benches including wheelchair accessible ones which was really great to see. The walk around the Lake was also really accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs. We stopped at the cafe for ice cream and noticed some really delicious cakes for sale. Prices at the cafe weren't cheap but pretty average for these days. The only disappointing thing about the whole place was the boat hire. We would've liked to hire a pedalo but at £26 for half an hour we felt this was way too expensive. It's not as though they use any fuel and with many of the visitors coming with young families and struggling with the current cost of living crisis this could have been made more accessible to everyone if it was a bit cheaper. All in all though a thoroughly enjoyable day out and great value for money.

I would seriously avoid the cafe in the new activity centre. We were given two coffees and one of them tasted just like a salad sandwich. As in it actually tasted like lettuce! There is obviously some serious cross contamination happening for this to happen. My partner didn’t believe me and was very shocked when he tasted the same!

Lovely place for a country walk with good parking and lovely cafe.

Yes there are footpaths all the way to Dinton so you shouldn’t have an issue

One at the activity centre
One for Lavell's lake - important so disabled bird users can easily access the site
These are both off Sandford Lane
One is at Sandford Mill
One is at the bottom end of Black Swan and white swan lake
And two are at the main entrance off Davis St...
Check the closing times if you plan to be there in the evenings as these are different for different car parks.

There are two car parks. One on Sandford Lane at the water sports centre (with overflow on the otherwise of the road) and the main car park on Davis Street (immediately after the bridge over the A329M on the Twyford side). The main car park is by the cafe and clos to the children's play park.
£1.20 for up to 1 hour
£2.50 for 1-4 hours
£4.00 for over 4 hours
